Should be short lived, but maybe they will play about another 12 or more games to get knocked out in the final stages and get nothing, which will help them in their quest for relegation ,rather like it did at Fulham and Bolton?
Not another fairy tale dream of yours SB Strangely the one I had was about some team in blue going from automatic to play off position and then Woops back to the drawing board maybe mine was a premonition rather than a dream
Excellent result in a nothing 'we would rather not be here- Jose's quote) cup with endless games leading no where but the backwaters of Europe and the occasional game against a well known team's subs bench because of the financial rules now governing the sides that the better teams can fiekl in terms of cash value and equality.e.g. the game I watched last night with INTER in that dreadful unimposing new team strip. Excellent result cos not only did I watch any of it, but it means a prolonged stay in this nothing competition which will no doubt lead to injuries etc as the SCUMMERS try and get somewhere with it as their league form plummits to new depths and assists their no almost certain relegation.play up Pompey soon one division between us and then another season and natural order WILL be restored!
Your right SB it is natural order, Saints playing Premier league football and Pompey playing league 2, it really couldn't be more natural Groundhog Day
Hmm, is this the same competition that you and all the other Skates I talk to keep going on about when Pompey "nearly" beat the mighty AC Milan in 2008 in their ONLY ever excursion in Europe, SB? It wasn't a "nothing" competition then was it?.....
It wasn't our fault the European Cup didn't exist when Portsmouth won the league. Twice. You know, two times more than Southampton ever have.
I think you will find winning the league ( a admiral achievement no matter the circumstances ) when most teams were made up of youth players and your team had players from all the other teams stationed in Portsmouth really carries little importance when so many men from all over Europe had lost their lives in a terrible war. A European Cup just then was probably the last thing on everyone's mind.
