If we only get one striker in (or worse case none) then we will be in the market in January for another I'm sure. We'll then get hit with the Isak tax as all will know we are minted and also the January Tax. The prices are getting silly when we enquire so for me I'd like to see us seriously beef up our scouting network in the next 3-4 months to hopefully unearth some foreign talent. Compared to players top scouts are very cheap so for me we can go all in on a world class network across the globe, all of whom should, if they are at the top of their game already have a shortlist of future star players. We can even get around any PSR concerns by PIF creating a scouting company, perhaps even using data analytics (see Tony Bloom) and that entity sitting outside of NUFC and just trading information with our club. If we were to have an 'unproven talent' splurge in January where we say get 5 strikers in for £10m a pop, surely there will be a gem in there and the others we can loan out to develop. For me, we need to start thinking longer term, beef up our scouting (we can't afford to keep buying PL ready players at £50m) and give Eddie more resources form within to call on. If we had a big pool of talent like Chelsea, then we wouldn't be panicking now and going for our 6-7th choice strikers. We'd just promote from within until the next window where we can go again. Structurally there are surely learnings we need to take out of the current situation. I'm hoping a new Dof and Chief Exec will address this urgently.
