See in the Sunday Times that we have stolen Martin Rigg from Man City to become technical director, set up scouting network, trim the squad and make sense of the contracts. He was with MH at both Blackburn and City. He was definitely poached - read earlier in the week that City were pissed off that he was going to 'another Premiership club'. I guess we are paying top dollar and note that he had a team of 20 at City. Sounds like good news to me and another sign of long term commitment from the owners. Sorry I lack the intelligence and skill to provide link/ cut and paste from the iPad. Justin, any advice/ tutoring on this? Having thought a little more about this, it now strikes me as massive news, a real statement of intent. We have pinched a top guy from the most free spending club in the world, got him to come to a relegation threatened club with poor facilities. Very convincing arguments as well as cash must be involved....
Any skills you think you lack on iPad, clearly compensated for in your evident ability to summarise Stan. Interesting developments as you suggest. Can't just be about top dollar though can it - given the resources of his former employer... ? Rigg must be well thought of if City's got the hump! Signs are the relationship between the Hughes management team, Phil Beard and the owners is becoming a long term commitment to the cause that is QPR. Bodes well I'd have thought.
Yes, I wondered where he would end up and then saw today's Sunday Times. As said above, this shows clear intent and clear commitment to the longer term. VERY good news.
Thank you for puttting this up SB Best piece of news story maybe since the goons sold up. This is something I care deeply about and the only way forward if you want to become a succesfull club. Looking forward to reading more about it. I've been mourning since the day Mel Johnson went to Spurs and Paladini stood for all our player aquisitions. By the way, does any of you know if Mel Johnson still with Spurs?
please log in to view this image Manchester City's head of scouting Mike Rigg is to leave the club to take up a post at QPR, Press Association Sport understands. The move would reunite Rigg with Rangers' former City manager Mark Hughes, with whom he worked at the Etihad Stadium as well as at Blackburn and with the Wales national team. Rigg's position at Loftus Road, it is understood, will be one of technical director and will entail a wider remit than his role with City. The move is amicable and he will leave City with the best wishes of the club. He is still currently working at Eastlands but is likely to move on before the end of the season. Rigg was appointed in June 2008, the same month Hughes took office at City, and has since overseen a significant restructure of the club's international scouting network. http://www.setanta.com/ie/Articles/2012/04/08/Rigg-gets-new-gig-at-Rangers/gnid-137790/?
Best news of the day....The board and Mark Hughes are in it for the long-term. Stability at last. Whatever happens this season it must mean that the future is rosy...and that may just mean that with the whole club pulling together, may be the short-term future may be rosy too.....
