Well thank **** somebody commented, this is a ryt lead balloon thread.
I think it's a signal that we're trying to play the game with Benitez in terms of recruitment.
Guess you can have as many scouts as you want when you have Charnley mind....

We've not got a game for ages, I suspect it's going to be quiet on here for a little while. Though if Sunderland go south it may pick up, big couple of weeks for them.

As for the scouts I think it has to be good news. Honestly think Rafa is staying provided he gets some backing in the summer irrespective of who the owner is.

The proof will be in the eating of the pudding.

You can scout as much as you want but let’s see if we actually buy anyone.

Also, could just be a tactical ploy to try and keep Rafa happy.

Big transfer window coming up this summer. Will Ashley cough up with the money to buy better players or will he fall short yet again. Think only Pouchy in his best WUM’ing efforts thinks Ashley hasn’t fallen short on that front so far with Rafa.

I read recently that we are in profit on player sales/purchases for Rafa’s period in charge. For the umpteenth time we wait to see if Ashley’s gamble of spending as little as possible succeeds or fails to keep us in the PL. If we are successful in staying up who honestly thinks Ashley will release the monies needed to improve as opposed to another gamble on staying up at minimum expense, assuming someone doesn’t come along and buy us.

Great we’ve appointed scouts but are we going to buy their first choice/recommendation or as with Carr the third or fourth choices. Carr came up with some golden nuggets such as Cabaye and Tiote but was ignored on others such as Aubameyang who we wouldn’t stump up the extra to get a deal done. If Ashley’s in charge expect third or fourth choices not first.

I liked the comment that he is going to start looking at the academy as well. Seems to me an area where a decent set up can pay off big time.
Even if they dont end up playing for us they more than pay their way.

With booting out a bunch of youngsters recently, and now the scouting changes, it sounds like there is as least an acknowledgement from the club (Ashley) that they have got it badly wrong with the youth set up and recruitment and they want to try something new. It all seems to be positive but we've heard this all before a number of times. If they trust in Rafa and don't meddle I'm sure he'll improve things.
