He might be the the next one to jump on board........... www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Tottenham-West-Ham-Scott-Parker-pay-cut-article791686.html
If its coming from the mirror it must be a done deal for us then! Seems like the deal with spuds is falling through and his agent is trying to get all friendly with the news desks at the rags!. On one hand they dont want him to go for peanuts, but on the other,he is 30,is costing West Ham a fortune!(along with the other 6 or seven player on big salarys) and they probably dont want to end up with no bids?. £8.5 mill is getting silly!. Didnt west ham just buy Baldock?.. Anyway, did Warnock say he wants another 5 player on top of Barton and Young??..
According to The People we are the only club matching the valuation and wages, can you believe we are outbidding Spurs?
At the end of the day, these guys want to play first team football. I can see Parker coming if we match his salary and offer regular first team football (which I doubt Spurs will) therefore keeping his England chances high. Come on Scotty - beam yourself on board!!
Having signed Barton, I can't see we'd sign Parker as well. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they play in the same position? And, I'm sure we're not going to pay someone £70-80,000 a week to warm the bench!
totally agree hoops eternal, i think our "big" name signing was Barton, parker has his heart set on spurs.
Harry is quite right. You can't spend that much money on someone who will have no resale value. A 3 year deal would cost nearly £11m in wages alone (at £70k/week). Add to that £8.5m for the transfer and you are looking at close on £20m for the three years with nothing at the end of it. We were lucky with Barton as he was on a free. We don't want to get 2 or 3 years down the line and find that we need to start replacing these players at £10m a throw ... with nothing coming in from sales. The top teams in the Premiership can afford to do that, but even they, when you look at the transfers in and out, don't actually spend that much. Warnock has already said that Barton was his number 1 target in that position, whilst Parker was his number 2. That might be politically correct bull ... he might have wanted Parker more than Barton. However they were two names for the one position. He's got one, so why buy another when there are other areas that urgently need strengthening?
They could both play in the two holding positions where Derry and Faurlin play now. Don't get me wrong, I'm a massive fan of Derry and Faurlin but the other two are better.
This wont happen! Especially as Warnock said that Parker was his number 2 choice after Barton. So why would he go for him when he's already got the player he wanted? There's a reason nobody has snapped Parker up yet and that's because West Ham are asking too much and aren't willing to bend, yet. But they will as they just can't afford to keep him in the Championship. We could buy Crouch for less and he'd do a better job for us too.
