http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...s-setback-as-he-battles-back-from-injury.html The Tottenham and England star had surgery on his Achilles tendon in August. Parker, 32, was expected to return to action last month. But Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas revealed yesterday that his midfielder has suffered a setback. AVB said: âItâs difficult for him as he still feels pain and is still disturbed in his recovery. âIt prevents him from being on the pitch but he has been evolving inside, in the gym, with the medical department. âIt is still within the limits of what we expected. âHe is making good progress and there has been less pain. âIt will take two or three weeks â but we could be looking at Christmas. Hopefully, it will be less.â Meanwhile, Villas-Boas hopes left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto will be ready for a first-team return within a month. The Cameroon defender has been out for six weeks with a knee injury. AVB added: âBenoit has made good progress and should return to training in 10 days.â Meanwhile, ex-Spurs boss Harry Redknapp would fancy a crack managing a national team. The SunSport columnist was this week linked with the Republic of Ireland job as pressure mounts on Giovanni Trapattoni. âArry, the fansâ choice for the England job earlier this year, said: âIf you had the chance to be successful, wherever it would be, I would be interested but who knows?â
He's been evolving? Holy Christ - we're gonna have the ubermenche on our team? What a signing he's been.
I was wondering what happened to him, he started training again a few weeks back and then disappeared again. Lucky we've got Sandro fit and in top form so lets hope that continues.
This is just typical luck for Spurs. Our two best players of last season - Parker and Kaboul are both out until December time. Credit to the team for coping well without them but I'm gutted for the pair and no doubt we'd be likely be better off if we had them fit. Hopefully they'll be fit enough to play in the December/ January period when fixtures usually come thick and fast.
There's no ****ing way he should've been involved with the England squad in the summer and now we're paying the price for it. Other clubs pull their players out for virtually no reason, but we send injured players along to tournaments.
I think Parker was desperate to go and I wish more players were like that. These days the merest hint of an injury is enough for most to pull out as a precaution so they won't miss a precious match for their club.
The merest hint of an important Premier League or Champions League fixture is enough for players to be pulled out as a precaution these days...
This. It was Parker's first tournament, and arguably his last chance. I think he would have busted down walls to be there.
SC has informed me he can't be recalled before January. He's more attacking though isn't he? Surely Livermore is cover for Sandro at the moment?
