Feel abit sorry for the guy, I spent all working day raging that we were keen to offload him...........by the time I got home I hardly gave the guy a thought as SSN bought the news of Robbie Keane.

If a striker had to go to make way I'd have preferred Samaras to be the fall guy, but realistically we would have obtained around £2m for the Greek. £4.5m is not a bad deal for McDonald, top scorer for the last 3 seasons but not without his faults.

I hope the money we raised is put towards a deal at the end of the season to keep Keane

The huns who claimed he would never come will probably scoff at the idea of us paying £10m+ for him but I'd say half that would be price. Spurs sold him for £20m, bought him back 6 months later for £9m, the fact he's 29 & Spurs are short of cash should see a deal struck for around £5m, should the next few months prove to be succesful.

£4.5m for him is good - especially since we bought him for £750k

He hasnt been as good this last year and a half and hasnt looked interested IMO - also looked overweight

I thanks him for his goals and he seemed to love the club - so al the best to him

But we can get betterthan him for that money

Would also like to see Samaras go now - he's no longer needed IMO - and cant see him play much to be honest - cant even see him on the bench much with under 21 rule

 

All the best to Skippy. He scored a lot of important goals for the club and you could tell that meant a lot to him. It's always disappointing to lose your top scorer but that has been more than compensated for by the excitement of the arrival of Keane. Rasmussen also looks like he can be a goal poacher so with any luck McDonald won't be missed too much.

 

Nobody wants Samaras right now and 4.5m for a guy who can't control a footballl is great. I know we are struggling for goals and he has proven to be a very god goal scorer even against top sides but he just didn't work in tonys team.

 

The funniest thing about the whole thing was Sky Sports were broadcasting the Keane deal all night with the crowd gathering etc which would have probably pissed McDonald off.........then when they mention his transfer they don't show a clip of him scoring against Milan, Man Utd, no its a video of him stretching in training & yawning whilst doing it
