Apparently we're signing him. He wants to stay in league 1 so he will leave recently relegated Hartlepool and move to us. What do we think of this? 26 Years old and stands at 6ft 4. I don't know to much about him, Sounds like our Heaton situation, Doesn't fill me with excitement that we are signing someone who was relegated from league 1...... please log in to view this image
Shiny, do you blame Heaton for the number of goals conceded? No, so why should the Hartlepool keeper be blamed for their demise?
He shouldn't but you can see why fans wont be excited if he is signed. He may very well be a good keeper and I hope is, Must have something about him if SOD wants to sign him.
Sounds like just the man we need a big big goal keeper league 1 is ugly, championship is a different level.
Unlucky for him that he was at Palace whilst Speroni was in place, a bit like Gerken, rarely got to play. As cider says, the best keeper in the world would concede loads without an effective defence in front him so he is a bit of an unknown quantity...
It seems this guy is highly thought of so looks like it could be a good signing! Now we just need to sort out a stable defence!!!!!
Why don't we employ a couple of brickies to teach our defenders how to construct walls That way at least Fontaine will have a job to go to when he's shown the door.
Flinders keepers would be happy enough with him, still young for a keeper and wouldn't cost that much in wages. just hope its true and not twitter BS
Got to be true it's on the transfer rumour site. 12 May 2013 12:21:07 Scott Flinders is holding talks with Bristol City. Flinders keen to move on now Hartlepool have been relegated. I'm family friend and can confirm this is true but other offers are being discussed. Also heard about this move as well. Makes sense with heaton off to burnley
A goalie is usually only as good as the people in front of him so judgement must only be made after he plays. Gordon Banks would have had a torrid time at Ashton Gate with the leaks in front of him last season. The rebuild has to start somewhere and a good goalkeeper is vital but the back line should receive more attention.
The wasteful days of big name and big money signings for Bristol City are at an end for a long while to come. Thus, it is likely that the great majority of City's incoming players will be comparatively unknown to most City fans, so we had all better get used to this scenario. Though if the club from Keith Burt and Sean O'Driscoll and their coaching staff, do their homework properly before signing anyone, the end result will almost certainly be better quality than some of the junk that has arrived at Ashton Gate over the last few years.
If Dylan Castanheira is as good as some on here think, then they may go with one senior keeper, Castanheira on the bench and get a loanee in if the senior gets injured. That way, the salary saved can be used for an outfield player like a CENTRE HALF.
Usually when you loan players you have to make some or all of the payments towards their wages that is something that has cost City dearly over the last few years with players on long term loans getting injured in their first couple of matches.
But assuming the number one keeper is fit and in form, then one only needs a loan if he's injured or so badly out of form that he's a hazard to the team. Do we need a reserve keeper at first team wages is the question I put to everyone?
