http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/scotland/15230517.stm I'd like what ever Levein is smoking, beat Liechtenstein 1-0 and now he's going for the win in Spain. The best hope they have is putting 10 in defence and hoping for a 0-0
I'm sure all managers tell their players they can win even if they are underdogs. The Leeds manager probably told his team they could win at Old Trafford when Leeds were in League One in the FA Cup a couple of seasons back and look what happened. Who'd have thought Scotland would've done the double over France a few years back? Or NZ to draw with Italy in the last world cup? No harm aiming or hoping to win against all expectations.
^^this. Of course Levein is going to say we can win. It would be typicalScotland that we do win,we always struggle against the **** teams but perform against the big boys!!!
Hopefully Scotland can do the impossible and beat them. I always want the home nations to qualify for major tournaments! On another note, I'm loving Craig Mackail-Smith's thick scots accent...naaaaart!
I think the game is live on the BBC so I may watch it. Even if Levien brings out his 4-6-0 formation (he did this away to the Czech Republic I think) it will be death by a thousand passes for them. Scotland needed the points on the board before this game really.
If Lithania beat the Czechs, Scotland could afford to lose though... Lithaunia aren't a bad team? (wishful thinking)
If the Czech Republic win, then don't Scotland have to win, so that is probably what he is getting at.
I really hope they get through, but it'll be the usual heartache for the Scots in my opinion. You can just see it now, last minute, Scotland 1-0 up after a heroic display, the Czechs drawing 0-0 after a dour game, then two own goals off someones backside will send the Scots crashing out. It's the way they do things!
He's not exactly going to say 'I'm going to set my team out to lose, we definetly don't win, got no chance'
