who needs Nicola Sturgeon when you have Gregor Townsend & Steve Clarke the Jocks should be on their knees, begging us to stay ...
Having been to Japan twice (and I had them in the sweep someone orgamised on here last World cup) I have to say that was thrilling. To be honest beating Ireland held more kudos (sorry FHB) but qualifying for the quarters is a real achievement. I'd love to see them go on andvwin it (assuming England don't) but they're gonna hit some big sides now. But they are there on merit, so who knows?
Yep, good luck to them, hope that they go on to win it. Just never really understood rugby. I used to have two flatmates who were rugby mad, they would talk rugby for hours, mostly very technical stuff. One of them was a Welshman called Mervyn Davis.
After 300 years let's be done with it. Give Scotland it's independence, and Wales. They can both join the EU and live off German money instead of English. I'm not even bothered by the prospect of hard borders separating those nations from England, if the amount of English money that goes to Scotland and Wales drops from however many billions it is at the moment, to £0. And we would finally be free of centuries of anti-English carping. If necessary all the Royal Navy installations can be rebuilt on the English coast. That would create thousands of jobs. And with the entire economic output of London & the South East only being spread out over England (& NI), plus no more money to the EU, the English will be laughing even if our economy shrank by 10% It's a clear win for England and another two financial headaches for Germany. Happy days
I'd hate to see Scotland get independence. England and Scotland are bound together by old ties. But you can understand why they don't like being given the choice between being governed by the Eton set with a pathological liar as Premier, and the Islington set with an ageing hippy as Premier.
I can see parallels between the Brexit movement and the Independence movement. Both appeal to the heart rather than the head. Although it's true that Scots can't get the Westminster government they want, it's also true that England didn't vote for a Wilson government, so roundabouts and swings IMO.
That is a fair point. English politicians and upper class twats should only really be allowed to govern England (and Northern Ireland if they so wish). It's probably time our colonial era was brought to a proper close. Though I wouldn't mind hanging on to a few places such as the Falklands and Gibraltar and the Channel Islands - again as long as the locals are agreeable. Basically, if any territory can provide a referendum result* in favour of independence, I have no problem with England letting them have it. No strings of course, and no more money. Keep it simple. * just like that one in 2016 Good luck to Japan in the Rugby World Cup by the way.
Never mind, it's only Rugby. Scots secretly like to lose things I think. Gives them something to grumble about. I don't mind what Scotland decides to do, I'm just a bit bored on a Sunday evening when there's been no football because of the crushingly dull Euro qualifiers. Well done Gareth by the way, not that I give a fart.
