The question is, can Scotland really be considered a Country anymore? Surely it is no more than another English County. It relies on English taxes to stop it's inhabitants from starving to death. English has long been it's language. It has now belonged to England for more years than anyone cares to remember and has no doubt benefitted from the English being kind masters. So let's all lose the silly pretend competition and embrace each other as a father embraces his son.

It depends on your definition of 'country'. As far as the UN and the US State Department are concerned, it isn't. But by the same measure, neither is England.

Scotland's no more of an independent country than Jersey. Jersey also has its own parliament (the States of Jersey) and is independent from UK tax. We have our own, separate, law. We're not part of the EU, and I think all of this is the same for Guernsey as well.
England's got a ****ing Queen, beeyatch! Anyway, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are the UK, that's the country. They're just parts of that country.
