Please post below your commitment to take part in Saturday's Scoop6, and the amount of £1 shares you will pledge. Minimum is 25 shares e.g. £25 As discussed previously, we need £1500 to cover 3 selections in each race. We may not get that, but let's see just how close we can get. I'll kick off with my own ............. I'm in for 100 We need to decide this by tomorrow afternoon really - it may well be that not enough take up means we can't do it justice, and better to find out now than later. Come on lads ...... lets do this! For quick access to the Scoop6 Group click here (if you are an invited member only) The initial discussion Thread
£475 so far...... quite a long way short of the "master plan"! But that's the reason for this thread - to gauge the depth of interest. I have set up a Scoop6 group and will issue invites to all the pledges on here, plus Uncle. You should start receiving invites soon. I'll still keep this thread open, but at least we then have our own, more private discussion area.
Oops - a bit out of practise - tbh I just counted down the thread, no calculator <embarrassed> Invites sent
I have said I will play but we need the asking price my money is there if we can get to the target I know we could play with a little less using 4 on one leg and 2 on another but more options the better the chance
Maybe the Selection Team (stick, bob and uncle) would like to predict how much we need to make it viable so that we have a target. Then, if we miss the target we kill it. That would make it clear. I think it would be unfair for the Selection Team to have to restrict their selections due to the lack of funds. If they pick 3 each they are unlikely to come up with 3 different horses in every race. So, for example, with £1500 they could be faced with the nice problem of deciding whether to stick with their combined selections or to find more horses in certain races. If we had (say) £450 then 3 of the races could have only 2 selections. That's 15 selections. If the Selection Team had picked 16 different horses then they would be faced with removing one of them. That could be a very painful decision. May I suggest that stick, bob and uncle PM Reebs with their selections without consulting each other and Reebs then notifies us all (via the group) of the horses so far selected in each race and the funds available. We can then make the decision, which will be one of: (a) we have scope for one or more additional selections, in which case we should have pre-determined how we select additional horses (b) we have sufficient funds to bet with the selected horses but not enough to add any more, in which case we should have agreed in advance what to do in this situation (c) we have insufficient funds, in which case we should abandon the bet unless the shortfall is made up to facilitate the bet (d) if we abandon the bet the money will be refunded to all members who supply their bank details. If a member does not supply bank details in this situation their contribution will remain in the fund until it is decided to have another go. I think if we adopt something like this, the decision to bet or not bet could be left until (say) mid day Saturday. Whatever happens it might be worthwhile pursuing the concept of an ongoing syndicate whereby we could all contribute a much smaller monthly contribution or simply buy shares as and when circumstances permit in preparation for another attempt at the jackpot when it reaches a tempting level.
That looks well thought out. May also suggest though that if there is a race where any of us have no strong selections we leave it blank so not to be of any adverse influence.
