When will it go right for this man. Finally has a weekend to get himself back on track, outqualifying Nico during an impressive saturday and an overtake on Nico at the hairpin during the race to boot. Unfortunately the car does not feel like complying. His comeback certainly doesn't seem to be written in the stars does it?
I feel sorry for the guy. He had a great weekend apart from the race. I feel the BBC commentators always seem to put him down.
Glad there's a thread that isn't about Hamilton. Firstly just want to say well done to Schumacher. I thought he did really well to qualify 5th, Okay, Hamilton messed up and Massa made a mistake, but he did outqualfy his teammate. Take into account the fact that we are talking about a 42 year old man driving an F1 car around the streets of Monaco and you have to agree it was a good job. He still has the same aggression and overtaking skill, but unfortunately he doesn't look like he has the magic of younger Schumacher. He was unlucky in this race, but he'll have a good race soon.
Last year he wasn't good enough. I think he has done much better this season than the statistics suggest, and I'm pretty sure that he'll attempt to hang on for one final season next year.
I thought he was lucky yesterday (like Vettel) but today, nothing went right. He made some good moves.
I've not read the other threads yet. I presume from your comment that several of them concern Hamilton? However, TheModestMatt's reference to Hamilton racing Schumacher is surely valid since they both overtook each other without incident; a very noteworthy and positive thing at Monaco.
The other threads should have a "could endanger health" sign beside them. ModestMatts post is very much in reference to posts he and other users have made in those threeads, i was determined not to allow this thread to go down that route
Agreed, as soon as anyone mentions the L or H word at the moment it provokes chaos, hense the rephrase and why im staying clear of those threads, we dont wanna turn this place into 606.
I feel sorry for Schumi to, he was doing all he could do with that Merc, which doesn't like it's tyres very much. We all know what the BBC are like, at practice they were ripping into him saying he should retire. After qualifying they start to praise him for recovering and that he's coming back, he then stalls it on race day and it goes back to the beginning of ripping into him. I'm actually wanting Michael to win now so those old hasbins on BBC will shut up...... IT'S BORING BBC, BORING!!!!!!!! TALK ABOUT SOMTHING ELSE PLEASE!!!!!!!
Its a nightmare punditry team for chumacher in all fairnes. EJ hasn't got over Schumacher leaving Jordan for Benetton it seems, Brundle could be still smarting from the caning he got from Schumcher as a teammate and DC is still smarting from the caning he recieved at nearly every race
I understand your point and it is nice to see that Matt agrees with you about 'going down that route' as you put it! However, I took his point at face value in this thread and I think it is valid. I would like to take this opportunity to suggest that all comments should be primarily considered at face value, rather than being regarded as veiled (or not so veiled) references to other threads and/or pre-conceived opinions or projections of what one may believe from elsewhere, since this amounts to 'prejudice' in the purest sense. Of course, prejudice is a natural tendency within everyone to some degree, since it forms our view of the world. But it is important that we all make efforts to rise above such an instinct wherever possible when it is clear that voicing such an instinct tends to inflame others who hold a different view (or different prejudice). If humans are to 'improve', surely we need to show tolerance of others as far as possible, by not reacting with an equal and opposite force of strong opinion or what may be seen as prejudice from the other side?
The Merc doesn't look very well balanced on a full fuel load to me, both he and Hamilton showed great awareness of each other when making their moves, schueys avoidance at turn 1 when Hamilton came through showed great reflexes and control, something that I thought he'd maybe lost forever, he's definitely far closer to Rosberg than he has been since his comeback, contrary to what I've stated before I don't think MSC getting a race win by the end of the season is out of the question, as long as Mercedes sort out their early race balance issues, which I'm pretty confident they will. edit: the Hamilton references are fair imo, as they contextual.
