    Newcastle United have a surprise fan in the form of seven-time Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher.

    An online magazine reveals that the German racing driver’s affection for the club began when he witnessed the Toon triumph against Sunderland.

    Take a look at an extract from the magazine:

    “I tuned into English TV one day and saw Newcastle beat their local rivals Sunderland. I immediately liked the way they seemed to be a much bigger and better club than Sunderland and from that moment on I was a big fan."
