I bought my ticket for the WBA match yesterday. Being over 6' tall I always go for the back row so that I can stand, which only left me with the choice of Z6 in the lower tier of the school end, pretty much in the corner by the Ellerslie Road stand. Has anyone on here watched a match from this position? Is the view ok?
Sat there with 2 of my kids at the blackburn game. The view was OK, though truth be told, there wasn't much action on the pitch! We were surrounded by tourists - Japanese in front of us taking pictures, Italians behind us singing italian versions of the songs. Haven't got a clue what any of them were saying, though all seemed to be vaguely supporting rangers. The Italians were particularly taken with a large man in the Ellerslie road stand who kept standing and shouting at the ref and Blackburn players - they called him an 'ooligan'.
As ever on this board, a diversity of opinion. I'll be ok to take tourists as long as I can see the match so I'll hope that N22 is correct. Cheers
You can bank on it! When you book tickets on-line you know that you can click on the binoculars to see what your view will be? It doesn't seem to work on these seats, that isn't a good sign!
Am always surprised when the ground is sold out...because it means some people must have bought tickets with some terrible views. I'm always really careful where I buy tickets for, as even the on-line viewer won't reveal annoying pillars when you're not looking directly forwards. To be on the safe side I always choose Paddock and Upper Loft.
u have no chance of standing up there!!! the worstatmospherein any of the stands as its full of complimentry tickets, which means a lot are neutrals! dont have to que long for a beer or wee tho!!!
To be fair, if the leg room available is equivalent to elsewhere in the stadium, I have no chance of sitting down either! If the atmosphere is lacking, hopefully my friend and I can do something about that, as well as drink in the atmosphere from the stadium as a whole. It must be better to be going than not. i'll give a full report on the section after the match. Bet you can't wait !!!!!!
Roller, I sat in the school end for the 1st time v Leeds last season, so probably not a good marker but it was fine, and like you say better to be there than not. If it's full of neutrals, do your bit and teach them the words and get them singing. It's interesting to look out on the 3 home sides of the ground. Enjoy!
In my infrequent visits to LR I have been to all 4 sides at the ground - my first visit was a Boxing Day match against West Ham (3 - nil to the home side) and constuction at the Loft put home supporters at the School End - I have never been disappointed at Loftus Rd. Well okay, that 2- nil loss to Arsenal wasn't great but my standing place was excellent.
I watched Blackburn from front at Z6 with a few if us ... It was great tbh and loads of room nice to watch it from away end ... We make some noise Had a few bkburn in there and a few newts but managed to tell Barton to start playing at corners I will grab these seats again no doubt Right on the front
So how was the view from Z6 I hear you all ask? Well, it was surprisingly good. I haven’t been behind one of the goals since the terracing was replaced by seats in the Loft, so it took a little time to adjust to the different perspective. However once adjusted it was great. We had a great view of both goals, although I couldn’t be sure that Helguson’s header was going in until it hit the net. Curiously there is more leg room in that area and I didn’t have to stand up to accommodate my not abnormally long legs. The atmosphere was interesting. We had a bunch of teenagers in front of us who were very vocal and the celebrations in Z6 were just as raucous as anywhere else in the stadium when we scored, I could actually hear pig bag being played, only the cries of “hoops” cut through the noise. We also got an interesting view on the taunting of the West Brom fans, who were above us, from X block after we scored. I would have no qualms about sitting there again, although somewhere more central would obviously be preferable.
