One loves the club for the sake of love, the other is only there for a big payday before retirement?

Scholes as an ex-player and supporter of the club(yes he supported Oldham as a kid)has every right to speak his mind hasn't he Christian?

Did I say he shouldn't speak out? He has the right to like any one else. But his views will carry more weight because he is an ex-United player. And a ex-colleague of Giggs, the deputy manager.

It is a bit interesting (at least to me) that the quiet guy who would refuse to say 2 words as a player because he is supposedly so shy is now by far the most vocal and the most "controversial" of the ex- United lot (Gary , Phil, Roy et al). It is one thing being outspoken in defending your ex-club and another being overtly critical of the management or manager.

Yeah, I see your point about him suddenly having more to say than in his playing days, maybe Fergie kept him away from the press like he allegedly did with Beckham and Giggs.

Scholes has said a couple of sentences saying LVG has settled for 4th this season (how many United fans haven't???) instead of aiming higher.

    THEN he says all this...

'He's not obsessed with possession but it is a very possession based game and what we've been used to over the years is not what are getting - and we probably won't get that. It's not great to watch but you have to say they are winning games.'

'Not finishing fourth is not good, but to me not challenging for the league is not good enough. But we have to give him time. They can't keep on sacking managers.'

'Maybe the coach does need time to settle in too, but the one thing he has got is (Ryan Giggs, United’s assistant manager) to help him settle and get him used to what to expect from Liverpool and from Newcastle,' he said.

'I can probably forgive him for this season - he's brought new players and they need time to settle in and so does he. But this time next year if they are not challenging for the league then something is wrong'

And apparently the Daily Fail reckons Scholes has "blasted" LVG.

Scholes is probably the shiftiest looking person i've ever seen on TV........including that documentary on crack addicts.....it's hard to take anything he says without wandering if he's been on the pipe again <ok>

Pretty much the view of every Utd fan and every rational fan of other clubs as well.

Reminds me of all the furore over SAF's comments about Gerrard in his autobiography. When a few million people say Scholes was a class above Gerrard no one gives a flying ****. When SAF says it, then it's suddenly headline news for a good few months <laugh>

Scholes was a fantastic player.....Had he been used correctly, England may have got the most out of there golden generation. Still looks proper shift on TV though <laugh>

Very true. Still can't understand why, at a time when Gerrard was being shunted out to the RW by Benitez to accommodate Alonso, Garcia and Hamann in CM, Ericsson thought it would be a good idea to shunt Scholes out to LW to accommodate Gerrard in the centre.

As for Scholes on TV, he does offer some good insight in many of his comments on the play, but he looks like he'd rather be anywhere else but there when he does. Gotta wonder how much they are paying him to convince a bloke who hated and resisted giving interviews throughout his career to do a couple of hours of live TV!

It was because Beckham had the right wing slot tied down for his entire England career <ok>

Yep exactly. In fact you look at the 3 points he made - we spent a lot and should be doing better, our football hasnt been great but we're getting results and top 4, if we arent aiming higher next season then serious questions will be asked - is all fairly common sense stuff.

One innocuous celebration with Giggs, one innocuous comment by Scholes and apparently the whole club is in turmoil! <doh>

    1. We spent a lot.
(we lost more and made massive changes to the playing and coaching staff)
    2. Our football is poor
(its not really, Its boring. Huge difference)
    3. If we don't aim higher yada yada yada
(we aimed to win the title from day one. We will settle for top 4 now)

I think everyone knows that Giggs hates Van Gaal, as do many of the players. Does not mean that Long Ball Louis cannot succeed though, he certainly has the financial muscle to do so

Initially I think they were genuinely impressed by him and despite the inconsistency back in sept/oct the confidence was there. Hence that run we went on. But since the turjid ****e he's served up since the new year the players are feeling that same feeling as they were same time next year. The ONLY ones who arent are mostly the new players Herrera, Blind and probably Mata. And Young who seems to be revelling under LVG.

IF we get top 4 I am sure all that will be reversed and the players will back him especially if he strengthens and we aim higher next season. But if we falter and lose 4th over the next few weeks I think the players may well stop believing or giving their all for him.

I agree with Paul Scholes, LVG is a numpty. I've rarely been impressed with him all season. We are only clinging onto 4th thanks to our brilliant goalkeeper, the rest of the team have played ****e most of the season.

Scholes played in the best United teams where the standard of football was high, Since he's quit playing he's watched utter ****e and I am sure it irks him.
Fair play to him for being bluntly honest.
The one game I can remember that United played something like their old selves was Giggs first game in charge on his own after Moyes left. Other than that it's beeen crabby hoofball.

Beware, Holland under vG at the WC were better than any sleeping pill. Is that the direction he is taking? If so, invest in new pillows you'll be doing a lot of sleeping on match days

Yeah.. Tried to explain to United fans not to get too excited about the freak 5-1 v Spain and That Costa's injury accounted for his poor performance. They would not listen

Is that why he's turned to poo in the prem?? Maybe his form at Atletico (which was head and shoulders above anything he's produced this season) was also a freak? In more sense than one (considering his looks)?
