How on earth did he stay on the pitch? A number of yellow card late tackles. A great player in his day and maybe still has something to offer but his timing today was awful, he really could have been sent off and wasn't surprised to see him removed soon after the booking. Even the Utd fans around me were cringing. Suspect he won't have long left in his career although it may be extended a little if he gets the protection from refs that he got today.
He could of been booked for a challenge after about 2mins, I think he would then of been sent off and we would of controlled the midfield for most of the game
Yep, that 2nd minute incident was a booking. We have had players sent off for less than Scholes collective fouls this season during that game. Young should of also been booked for diving and we should of had a free-kick in the run-up to the corner that led to their first goal.
Because it's Paul Scholes. He's been getting away with it for nearly 20 years so why start punishing him now. Far easier to just wait for the fourth or fifth bad foul before brandishing an almost apologetic yellow. **** knows how he still gets near their team also. Any competent footballer could perform the role of receiving the ball and passing it five yards sideways.
