http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2582198/Morgan-Schneiderlin-wants-England-call-turning-France-Southampton-man-Roy-Hodgson-squad.html It doesn't state anywhere that he has expressed an interest but instead concentrates on his frustration with France. Personally I'd welcome him with open arms and feel he would bring a lot to the England squad. Roy's seen enough of him so he must be impressed as he's had a superb season. Thoughts?
This was mentioned in Beefy's. It won't happen because he's a Frenchman who doesn't want to, and isn't eligible, to play for England. It would also me a massive up yours to any actual English midfielders who felt they deserved a place in the squad.
Think he's probably just trying to get Deschamps' attention. He wouldn't be eligible to play for England.
Funnily enough, I don't think he has been quite as effective this year as last. I think we had a more settled midfield last year. I know Adam had a few injuries but there was nothing like the upheaval we've had this year. As such I'm often not sure what his role is meant to be whereas last year it seemed clear cut. Still one of the best though but he is French and wants to play for France. Tiss could have played for Scotland, he would have got more caps
Glad I'm not the only one! Last year he was comfortably our best player, but this season people have put their focus on who should partner him. He doesn't seem to get forward as much, but I guess that's his new role. If you don't notice a CM much, they're doing their job.
He still sets our pace and tone; he is the one player who makes us tick more than others. We have Adam for his creativity, Cork/Vic for the moving things along role, Rickie and JayRod for the goals, but Morgan is still the one who seems to dictate our games. When he is on it, we are on it. If Morgan gets the ball off the CBs and starts spraying 15-40 yard balls and then going to get it back, then I know we are going to perform. He's like a glockenspiel for our game.
Can't see this happening and some have pointed out that he wouldn't be eligible anyway. Don't have a problem with people who are not English born or are of English descent, but have lived here since childhood and consider themselves British. Schneiderlin is good, but not such a game changer that an England manager would risk a public outcry from picking a foreigner. All Morgan can do is persist and hope...he is still young enough to wait.
He also said that he never regretted his move to Southampton and was grateful for all that the club had done for him
I think you both mean conductor but glockenspiel has done me FLT! I have a puddle of ribena in my lap.
This all reminds me that Laurent Koschielny put thousands of pounds of his own money into saving a French accordian company. Rather endearing I thought.
Glad to be of service. I'm blaming manful of course, rather than me being a complete numpty. PTF was correct, I meant the ticky-tocky thing not the bloke with the stick, or the wooden instrument
Regardless of his intention for making this comment (yes I too think its to try and put a rocket up the French national setup), as an England fan, would you rather have Snidders sat alongside Stevie G as defensive midfielders or Henderson? OK stop laughing....Henderson was torn to pieces by Shaw and JRod at SMS recently as he is so slow. DM is a position that England don't have many options so really Corky and Snidders should be looked at especially post world cup when Stevie G retires as there are not many other options if Roy wants specialist players rather than shoe horning people into positions
Although its a massive 'up yours' to Morgan to see multitudes of players from French Colonies get into the French national side ahead of him. Same with most sides in Europe at the moment. Seems England are the only ones that have these 'standards'.
I don't think Kylie would be too impressed if you mixed up her glockenspiel for her metronome FLT.....!
My understanding was that no foreign born player can play for England unless they lived here for 5 years prior to their 16th (perhaps 18th) birthday. Something to do with the fact you get a British passport rather than an English one, so in theory Schneiderlin could be called up by any of the home nations under Fifa rules.
Tiss could have played for any of the home nations because he was British but not English. Bet he would have got a few more caps with Scotland or Wales.
Reminded me of that joke; what's the difference between an accordion and an onion? Nobody cries when you cut up an accordion. Morgan is a proud Frenchman. I am sure that he would only want to represent his own country.
