It would be very amusing for someone with a heavy french accent playing for England!

Morgan has been asked this before. He basically said no way was that going to happen. Typically, he was very nice about it, and very French at the same time. :)

Reported by one paper, but they added that MP said it jokingly. Pretty sure that Morgan wants to play for France or no one.

Obviously noone actually thinks he will play for anyone other than France in terms of national sides! It's just amusing to consider it and really a shame that he hasn't already been called up.

I still think France aren't calling him up cos they're pissed off he ignored them when we dropped to League One. If you remember, it was very public that they wanted him to move otherwise they wouldn't be considering him.

Pretty sure it was a tongue in cheek comment by Pochettino just to make the French federation sit up and take notice?
Would love Morgan to get a French call up as it makes his years down South fully justified.

Morgan said that he is always being asked by the French press why he hasn't been called up. All I can guess is that France must have some fantastic midfielders if he hasn't even been considered (and he says he hasn't).

Well said Dell Boy. For the same reasons as Adam Lallana's refusal to move to Sunderland back in 2009, Morgan Schneiderlin's stay at Southampton all those years will hopefully pay dividends for his own country as well as Saints. I said on another thread the other day, and I still think, Saints could, by the end of the season be fielding a full squad of full internationals.

Don't think he was ever eligible,

this is similar to Arteta and this was fifa's ruling - FIFA Statutes stipulate that the player needs to have held a British passport at the time when he represented Spain at the U16 European Championships and in addition he would have required five years of education in Britain before turning 18.

Wouldn't surprise me if this was true, the French can be so petty with disputes like this! Remember the world cup drama from a few years back where the team refused to play!

OH FFS. How many times do these rules need to be explained?

    Pochettino was clearly joking.

Except these jokers who write for the papers (and pretty much everyone who reads them).

To be fair to the French, they can't really afford to take any chances until after the playoffs (assuming the win them.)
