Yet again? To my knowledge this is the first contract extension Kasper has had as he has been our highest earner due to being signed in the Sven era and every rumour about him is being a backup keeper - we are the only Champions League club to offer him first team football. Will be interesting if Real Madrid do sign De Gea and Man Utd come calling.
He signed a 3 year deal which he ran down and signed a new 4 year deal after we got promoted Kasper has always shown outstanding loyalty to our club. Club legend without doubt
Bloody hell - he has been with us for 5 years. Saying he has shown outstanding loyalty is taking it a bit far though - while teams like AC Milan, Barca and Man Utd have shown interest, no one has put in an actual bid to test his loyalty. Would agree with club legend though - him and every member of the playing squad from last season.
The year he signed he was outstanding and frankly we was ****- could have easily kicked up a fuss 2 year he was superb against and we won 2 out of about 20 and lost in the play offs. He turned Hull down 3 year we won promotion and he ran his contract down. Could have got a big payday and wanted a bigger club to help his Denmark chances 4 year he could have moved on when NP got sacked Kasper has had numerous opportunities to leave. He has been linked with AC Milan, Real Madrid and Man U. But he stayed loyal
I remember when he was running his contract down now you mention it - why would a "loyal" player do that? Is almost as if he wanted a big payday and wanted a bigger club to help his Denmark chances but none materialised so he resigned with us - but only when promotion was confirmed as well... I think you are confusing loyalty with longevity - if AC Milan, Real Madrid and Man Utd actually attempted to sign him and he stayed then that would be loyalty but what I would call him is smart - is no shame in looking for bigger and better things no matter how much we as supporters don't want it as with Vardy.
It was the club who ran the contracts down due to FFP. If we stayed in the championship we couldnt afford to keep them under the contracts Sven gave them
Well if kasper left I'm sure we could get Andy Lonergan from fulham as according to Leeds 606 fans he's a better keeper
If any of those clubs had made firm bids he would have gone. If say Arsenal came in now and offered him £120k a week he would go. Up until last season I always felt he was over rated but like all the squad last season he raised his game to a new level. It would be fantastic if the team could be kept together for one more season but in reality was always going to be virtually impossible.
Its pointless doing ifs and buts He has always shown loyalty and commitment to our club. He has had chances to move numerous times and he didnt take them
I think he'll stay Atleast 1 more season, but l wouldn't blame him if he left after that seeing how he's been here for a good few years.
In today's football 5 years at one club is pretty loyal. What are the "numerous times" he has had the chance to move?
... the reality is that there is little loyalty in football ... it comes down to money usually ... yes the very best may want to play for the elite clubs but they are hardly likely to take pay cuts to do so .. .. in a somewhat bizarre twist, John Terry would appear to be doing exactly that ... spending one more season at Chelsea on what might be half of his last contract wage rather than pursuing the mega bucks available in China .... JT is not the most wholesome of individuals but does deserve some recognition on this ... not that he will be a pauper mind ... still likely to be close to 6 figures ... The team bond and camraderie that was evident at the club this seson was fantastic to behold ... but also unusual in this day and age .... and once the glow of success has tempered it reverts to the 'what's in it for me' all too soon ...
If Kasper wanted a move he would have had one ages ago. He was a stand out performer for us for 3 years in the championship. Widely regarded as the best keeper in the league and the Denmark number 1. I dont think he would have struggled to get a club
