It is on days such as this that I truly believe that Sunderland AFC must have the biggest percentage of schizophrenics in British (if not world) football. It is only a short few months ago that there were loads on here saying how Henderson was ****e, overrated and was not fit to wear the shirt. Now that we are selling him, some of the same people are going on as if he is the new Maradona! The fact is that Jordon is a player who has shown potential, but no more than that, and to get 20 million for the lad is in my opinion a pretty good deal. In my opinion, one of the major reasons why we have not had success, is that we have too many fans who seem hell bent on pulling the club down at every given opportunity. We have now been a top flight club for the longest period in living memory, and for that reason alone I have faith and trust in Quinn et al and will back them to the hilt. For God's sake get a grip!
I'm not against the sale RAW, i think it's good money for the lad, although i'd rather he'd stayed. My concerns are who and where the money goes, it needs to happen now, and it needs to happen on quality. So long as it does, i'll be ok with it. Sunderland till i die and all that
That makes two of us who are perceptive! I see you sussed my other username on an alternative site...
Very well put;unfortunately my living memory takes me back to the ending of a top flight run which ended in 1958.There are a lot of clubs who would love to have 4 successive years in the toghest league in the world.
whitey ok this how i see it henderson may not be a world beater YET but we were building a good squad and weather he or the other stars we sold could have won us some honours we will never know but if half way through our building progress which infact was not going to0 bad we start to sell our stars whether wanted to go or not we need to show more ambishion by keeping our best players and building a strong squad then we can take stock and sell for big money any one he wishes but first i repeat get a srong squad first
I can see where you are coming from mate, but the fact is that we are a club who needs to sell in order to finance transfers. In this department, Bruce has an excellent record, and I for one will be backing his judjement.
RWhite ur other user name isn't 'arsewipe' by any chance is it. Anyway this attitude of selling best young players-like Newcastle- is very disheartening for supporters and I think that people who support it are stuck in the dark ages how Sunlun were at Roker park--no ambition or nowt. I really think Sunderland have ambitions now but I am pretty sure they wont break the bank and aren't aiming right for the top. This may be sound business acumen but it will never satisfy the supporters-hence the uproar when the better players move to 'bigger clubs'. To me it is good money--only because I don't rate the lad-- and I think you can buy 2 equally good, or better, players for the same money from another club.
Relax mate, I'm a lot older than you...I'm not into statistics, and have been attending SAFC games on a regular basis since 1970, and I honestly thought that this was our longest top flight run. If I'm wrong I hold my hands up...
