Looks like this one might be moving forward - medical today allegedly.... https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/fabian-schar-set-newcastle-switch-12977174
Sky Sports are also reporting that we've met his release clause. Seems like a good signing to me. Obviously Deportivo shipped in a few goals last season but he's always been highly rated and looked solid at the World Cup - presumably he's a 3rd/4th choice so as good cover as we can possible ask for really. Now for a striker, lb, rb, and midfield cover...
Especially as Lejeune looks like he's picked up a knee injury from last night - be good to get Joe Bryan in at LB then concentrate on the striker situation
Especially if the fee for Bryan is only going to be around £6million as suggested. Last year of his contract so it's feasible. That would be the defence sorted for me (two good players for under £10million - would be very good business). A new RB would be nice, but I agree - strikers and a number 10 are far more important.
and another one apparently..... Yoshinori Muto http://www.nufcblog.co.uk/2018/07/2...plete-surprise-striker-signing-9m-fee-report/ but who knows....
Schar I'd take. Not a worldy but cover so won't complain Bryan I'd be pleased with don't think he's as good as Dummett from what I've seen though so again probably backup Muto I didn't really like the look of him at the World Cup and having looked, another player who struggles to score goals (8, 5 and 7 respectively) in his 3 years in Germany and hasn't scored in 3 years for Japan...
These are Championship transfers at best. Bargain bin bullshit. Even clubs in the Championship are showing more ambition.
Muto's goalscoring record isn't that bad. Consistently averaging just over 200 mins per goal in the Bundesliga for the last 3 seasons with a reasonable amount of assists too. A better option than Joselu for sure. If he were to sign for us I would wager that he's not going to be the next great NUFC number 9 though.
Doesn’t Mitrovic have a decent/better record on paper? Thought muto has scored about 15 in three years? If he’s not even playing that’s not a good sign...
He's a decent player with pace to burn. If you factor in his assists, he’s contributing either a goal or an assist every other game in the Bundesliga. Far better than Joselu and Gayle, for the little that is worth. Agree though - I wouldn't be thrilled if he was our only striker addition.
According to some Bundesliga journalist: Ronan MurphyVerified account@swearimnotpaul 13m13 minutes ago Yoshinori Muto could be a bargain for Newcastle. He’s tactically excellent, great off the ball, times his runs well, and is a very hard worker. Will be a big loss for Mainz. #NUFC #M05 14 replies 19 retweets 25 likes
I remember you raging about us signing a worthless journeyman goalkeeper from a crap league who you had never heard of called Dubravka. Poor judgment. As for Muto. He may turn out to be good. He may not. The opinion of someone who earns a living from watching and analysing German football is still worth adding to the conversation.
A lad I know goes home and away and I mean awsy he's been to the Ireland game and also Hull now on his was to Portugal and he's raving about perez. .....looking bigger ,sharper and more alert... Who knows maybe him and gayle may solve all our woes this season .. Ktf
