Whilst I have enjoyed Bradford's run to the final and have mocked friends who support Arsenal and Wigan (I do not know any Villa fans) there is a small scared part of me that hopes it doesn't come back to bite me in the bum against Luton. Irrational I know, but upsets happen. In my more lucid moments I see us tonking Luton, like we did Sutton, setting us up for a second good run of results. But the fears remain. Anyone else harbour similar secret fears?
I remember well the Sutton match,4 for Malcolm Allan,3 for Flecky and 1 for Trevor Putney. We got to the semi that year, and should have been in the final - Happy days. I don't think we will have any trouble turning the Hatters over. 4-0 I would guess,if he plays a strong team (we do have Spurs on Wed-so you never know)
I can't see any thing other than a convincing victory for us ! Im sure CH will play his strongest 11 as a victory is needed to restore some confidence to his players, risking playing fringe players & scraping through or drawing(not to mention the unmentionable) would be suicide IMO.
ah no feck it . enjoy laughing at other teams when you can, and just suck it up if it bites on you on the arse.
Since Schadenfreude appears to be built into the DNA of the vast majority of football fans, especially those who post on forums, I realise the following suggestion isn't very helpful. Nevertheless, for what it's worth, I offer this advice. If you fear others doing to you what you do to them, there is a simple solution: desist! That's far more certain of success than relying on your team not slipping on a banana skin.
I don't know about dishing it out dave, but I do know that I am prepared to take anything anyone pours out. Trouble is some don't take a hint .........
Personally I can see us playing squad players and not the strongest XI although I can see Holt getting a start to build up match fitness and hopefully confidence with a couple of goals. I seriously doubt CH is so scared of Luton that he feels the need to play the likes of Bassong/Tetty/Johnson/Pilks/Wes/Snod
To be honest until we are say 2 up then the fear is there and real. I remember when we played dagenham & Redbridge when they were in the same league as Luton and we scraped 1-0 with a very very late goal - I'm not sure I fancy a repeat of that again but it could happen, particularly if they park the bus.
It has to be reserves on Saturday. Much as I am against swapping for the so called "rest", it is prevalent at all levels and accepting the premise then it is important to worry more about Spurs and 6 out of 7 rather than a bit of ribbing for losing to Luton. And only 10 year olds will think "who are Luton?"
