We're both together at princes park last night according to Radio Kent. Seems a bit strange so don't know if they were looking at anyone in particular
All the signs seem to indicate a return for Hess in some recruitment role in which he has always excelled as a talent spotter. He was sat next to Scally at Priestfield on Saturday and this must have the approval of PT.
Hessy always signed brilliantly and his sides had flair and were exciting to watch, admittedly they were so frustrating to watch as well seeing how talented they were but couldn't get promoted! In all honesty Hess back in a Director of Football role would be a good idea, he would be a great manager but tactically he's not at the races, don't think Taylor would mind it either if Hessy came back in to help out as Taylors signings so far have been bloomin awful! (With maybe the exception of ***an, maybe!)
Hessenthaler could end up being assistant next year if Schofield and Muggleton join Martin Allen at Barnet. I thought Allen had a contract there until the end of the season but it turns out that it's until the end of next season.
oh jeez...Lenny ain't going to be happy reading all this. I just hope this thread has dropped of the board before he visits again hehe
Wouldn't read too much into it, Scally and Hess are best mates and I saw them both recently on a night out in Maidstone. When myself and a couple of others spoke to Hess about what he's currently doing he said he was quite happy with scouting for Burnley and doing his coaching for the Soccer Elite academy.
This is an awful post brb please remove it. I normally respect other fans comments but this is a step tooooo far, sorry gfclukey!!!
Ok lets just clear a few things up. First of all never, ever go back. We've already done this once with Hessy and frankly it was an unmitigated disaster why would you want him back AGAIN in any capacity. Move on lads and stop living in the past. Great players rarely make great managers, Bryan Robson, Roy Keane for example.. Give him a picture of a spitfire and lets move on...(that' line is for any Alan Partridge fans out there!!).
Sorry Lenny, I've thought long and hard for many days about your official complaint. I've consulted the EU, the United Nations, the US of A, Russia, North Korea and UKIP and even held a séance with Margaret Thatcher...and they all told me Hessy is the divine one, the most high over all earth. Therefore your complaint has been dismissed but you have the right to appeal, please apply here....http://www.dalailama.com/
Don't think Hess Snr should have a contract, but if he can dig up another Simon King and persuade PS to bank roll the signing, then he should be due a very generous commission indeed!
Hessy's achievements as a manager are fair game for the expression of opinions and variations in opinions are to be expected. When it comes to his ability to spot and develop talent, the facts are the facts and there is much less room for opinion. In his time as manager Hessy recruited or nurtured Moron King, Nosworthy, Hope, Shaw, Crofts, Jarvis and Gazza as well as brokering the transfer of Simon King from Barnet. These are just the names that spring to mind. The squad he assembled at Dover was equally amazing by non-league standards. No manager gets all the transfer decisions right but in Hessy's case the percentage was very high and many of these deals made a lot of money for the club, nobody else compares.
Whatever peoples opinions either for or against Hess, he was the manager during one of the most memorable games in the last 10 years. brb would ban me if I mention the match as he missed it and didn't see the goal fest, the penalty save, the last minute goal, "magic"
Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeez...it's like a nightmare being replayed over and over again LOL...for those that don't know and i'm sure the whole world knows by now...it was the ONLY home game i missed that season
