For those that are interested, the full version on On the Social page from Doncaster's match is now up on the website, including a link to offer a donation. I wouldn't do this for everyone, but as i explain in my opening, this particular Darlo fan caught my attention this time with a very special piece of emotive writing. http://exiledrobin.blogspot.com/2012/01/save-darlo.html?spref=tw Link is here if you don't want to click through to the article but still wish to donate: http://darlo.georgi.co.uk/?page=donateandsavedarlo
I think many more clubs are going to go this way, football as it is today cannot carry on with the ridiculous costs. Take sky out of the equation and it would go bang. No other industry can get away with it,how football can at present is miraculous.
The overinflated wages are only matched by the overinflated ego's of the players, managers, owners and agents. Good article again Bill and I really hope Darlington survive. Other clubs have been down similar routes in recent years such as Halifax Town and Chester City, but both of these reborn teams are flourishing again and are pushing from promotion from their respective leagues. The likes of Aldershot have also risen from the ashes of the old club. On the flip side of the coin there are the teams that have fared less well such as Maidstone Utd, and Scarborough both of which were league teams just a few years ago.
