I know at present his quality is unlikely at Southampton but had he been in side yesterday think the result would have been different , if Liverpool are championship contenders then I don't think we are far behind ,in fact put saurez in side and think we are better
Suarez is so good and one of the Top 3 players in the World that.... I think you could put Suarez in the West Ham side and West Ham would finish Top 5. as Suarez is that good.
One player can lift a team from being good to title contenders. Look at the difference that Rickie made to us...he was the difference between us getting out of the Championship and not. We weren't a one man team, but he provided the gloss on the gingerbread. We probably won't get a Suarez, but we need someone very like him. It would be great if we could get one through the academy...hard to afford otherwise.
Gloss on the gingerbread? Yuk! A striker of that class is the missing bit of the jigsaw at present. I suspect that we have the money to purchase such a player but competition would be intense. Much better if a class striker came from the Academy but that would require more patience from the fans...and we all know how patient they are on this board, let alone elsewhere! Such a shame that Osvaldo didn't work out but a least it shows that the money is there. Funny also how Suarez has been completely rehabilitated into the football family. The quality of his play has silenced even the haters.
I certainly think he will make the prestigious Southampton not606 away team of the season XL The movement for the second goal was superb. The control from a poor pass from Henderson on the lead up to the penalty was great. He used his body well as Cork got the wrong side of him on the lead up to the 1st goal and he tucked that away with ease. I hope Jay Rod studies that performance as a benchmark for where he needs to be in terms of effecting games. Suarez makes things happen and that's the difference between him and good PL players. Plus he is helping improve Sturridge and others around him. Pleased for Liverpool yesterday as they'll make Champion League now and they can hold on to him.
With the way we play it is necessary to have a striker who can finish like him. Shaw was zipping some great balls into the box but they're difficult chances to finish because of the pace of it all. Only the very top strikers put those sorts of chances away regularly. We're one world class finisher from making a big jump into the top teams.
If arsenal had succeeded in buying Suarez, which they might well have done had they not taken the piss with that "£40mill plus a quid" offer, they would be 9 points clear at the top of the league by now. And if Dani Osvaldo turned had out to be a 20 goal a season striker and not a ****ing liability, we'd be competing for 6th place.
we're only the best player in the league away from competing with the best teams in the league seriously liverpool wouldn't get a sniff of signing a player like suarez the way he's playing right now. players who look likely to become a player like suarez will be offered and take the chance to play for teams like liverpool rather than us, so we're going to need some spectacular work off the pitch to find one of those for ourselves. Or luck. on balance of probabilities we'll have to spend more money finding the same kind of player with trial and error. then again we've never signed andy carroll.
We'd be awful for a short period and gradually adjust to him not being in the side. It would allowJWP to get starts who'll send some good balls into the box for set-pieces. Bottom 8, I'd say.
I agree....Lallana is important and I would hate to be without him, but it isn't an area we are particularly weak in.
