Wasn't all that great really. This was my first game of 2017 and left frankly unimpressed. With no disrespect to Shrewsbury intended but looking at both squads we should really have been beating them. There were massive spells in the game where we could have pushed on and dominated them and we didn't. To give credit to Shrewsbury, they did look a threat going forward but that might have been to do with the massive gaps that the midfield and the defence were leaving for Salop just to casually stroll into. Our passing was also incredibly poor. I counted a 10 minute spell in the first half where we struggled to muster more than 2 passes together. Too often it was given away cheaply and a better team would have certainly punished us. I also want to make a point about our defending. Still very questionable. I for one don't think that Ehmer is captain material. He doesn't lead the line in defence nor does he take control which often leads to them being out of position which happened a hell of a lot on Saturday. For me if you can't lead the defence, you shouldn't be leading the team. Anyway let's mention some positives. Well JET didn't start. Wagstaff worked his socks off as did Cody. Deji's goal was very well taken. Nelson made some very good saves to keep us in it. Dack looked a bit more industrious than recent games. For me a lot more improvement is required and a new Centre Back is still a must because that game didn't fill me with confidence that the team has improved that much since Edinburgh left.
I don't know how many games you've seen PegLeg, but that was a definite improvement on many this season. Ade is still trying to get new players in so he is aware that we have a few problems, whether he can solve the problems is still to be decided. Jed was allowed time to get his own players in before being judged, Ade deserves the same curtesy.
A slight improvement but with only List starting otherwise normal team. Please play players in there right positions Wagstaff is a right sided midfielder not left side.
Grumpy, I've seen a few this season including some poor ones. Technically the last game I saw was the Bolton match on tv and then before that the Rochdale game but even the games before that we were poor. I really didn't see enough on saturday to say that was an awful lot better. At least under Edinburgh we still got wins even when playing woefully. Saturday was an opportunity missed in my opinion.
