This happened a couple of days before my eldest was born. The poor feller was almost saddled with 'Inamoto' as a middle name, but Mrs Captain put her foot down.

Inamoto? I can see why Mrs Captain objected. Saha would have been a much better choice.

    Brilliant.

Also, very strange seeing Steve Kean in our dugout!

Strange seeing Kean in any dugout now, to be honest.

Hard to believe that it was 11 years ago today that Inamoto signed for us.

“Fulham have made World Cup star Junichi Inamoto an offer he could not refuse. The player said, "I have decided my future, I am going to Fulham, where they will play me."

The 22-year-old was one of the stars of the World Cup finals and scored two goals for Japan as the co-hosts made the second phase. Before the finals had started Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had already decided to dispense with the player's services after opting not to take up the option to sign him permanently from Gamba Osaka for £4 million.

Inamoto made just four appearances at Highbury last season, as he failed to make the breakthrough, but now he is ready to put his North London troubles behind him with a switch to the West of the capital with Jean Tigana's Fulham.

Inamoto's decision to join Fulham means disappointment for Perugia, Atalanta and Feyenoord, who all harboured hopes of landing the Asian star.”
