Wincanton hosts a great looking early season card.

    I've backed:

    Melodic Rendezvous 3/1
    Wonderful Charm 7/4
    Poungach 13/2

    Best of luck fellas.

    Evening,

Wincanton 2.40 Standing Ovation 11/2 - Pipe has a good record in this race and this improver looks an out and out stayer with potential.

    Best of luck all.

Bob, are you not worried by the J Scott stable form for MR?

I'm not arsed Bucks. If he wins he wins. If he loses he loses. The bet of the day is WC for me although Poungach is a real stand out at a decent 13/2 as well. Confident of those two being in the mix.

Interesting longshot at Doncaster tomorrow. AZENZAR 2,25 66-1 Roger Varian trained and William Buick ridden. Beaten fav last time out now sports blinkers and a hood. Is being gently nibbled at in the market. Could be something, could be nothing!

14.05 Wincanton- Far West- 7/2 NAP

Had a stunning season last year, highlight was when running River Maguie ragged and beating Handzan twice. His sole defeat in the UK came when chasing home Our Conor in the Triumph Hurdle and defying a 239-day absence isn't too much of a concern as he dotted up first time out at Chepstow last term. He is in reciept of 4lbs to MR. I reckon he is PN's main hurdler this year and will be bang on form and very hard to bear

    14.25 Doncaster- Eton Rifles- 11/2

Is alot fresher than most in the field. Made all when wining a listed 5f at Ascot last month. Will like the ground and knows how to win at this course (won the race last year) and will make a bold bid to regain his crown

Interesting opinion Woolly, this fellow has, for me, looked like a chaser from day 1. I can't see him getting near the top of the tree over hurdles and I would be getting him ready for the Arkle - can't wait to see him jump a fence and he is one of my 5 to follow, but only over fences <ok>

    3.15 Wincanton Meister Eckhart 4/1

Tough ask on debut here but this is a horse who looks tailored for fences. He is a lovely, big scopey horse who hurdled absolutely beautifully, one of his best assets. If he transfers that sort of elegance to fences he will take some beating in small fields and I'd expect him to go very close to running these ragid from the front if he does jump as well as I hope. It's a big ask first time out but he has big potential despite being a 7 year old and King has started reasonably well and he receives 6lb from the top two in the market. Third Intention beat Rebel Fitz but I don't rate the form highly (although Third Intention ran some excellent races in defeat last year) and I think this could be a tactical affair that suits Alan Kings horse.

I did like Wonderful Charms debut though it has to be said, but I also think Meister Eckhart has big potential.

I've decided to do these 3 too. Didn't know MR was running this week, but a horse i really liked last year since his debut. Interesting that STD is on Poungach for fat Paul given his old man has one in the race, although they are claiming 7 on it. Has there been any mention of Sam becoming retained as second jockey to Nichols or anything? Not sure about Wonderful Charm but if it's the bet of the day, i'm in. The one I'm most looking forward tomorrow though is Grandouet. A lot of people think he is over rated, but i have always rated him highly and thought he was made for chasing. Keeping my powder dry tomorrow, but hoping for a scintillating performance. Good luck all.

I think likewise with MR this race will determine his season, but I fully expect him to win tomorrow. I just seem to think who else Nicholls has got in the hurdling divison- I do agree he wont get nr the likes of the Champ, New One or reverse the form with Our Conor but will be interesting match up tomorrow!

Was just going to put the point of Grandouet- he comes up against a horse that im a big fan of Hinterland. Sets a good standard but is vunerable to improvers and surely if Grandouet has any chance of winning at the festival he should be putting this field to bed!

Oh Doncaster - I refuse to waste any more dough on your massive cavalry charge lotteries!

    Don 2-25 Highland Colori <laugh>
    3-35 Conduct

    Wincanton 1-30 As I Am
    2-05 Melodic Rendezvous
    2-40 Court By Surprise
    3-15 Wonderful Charm

Disappointing that C4 are majoring the flat at Donny where there isn't really any stand-out races, but their time is rapidly going :)

I thought Wonderful Charm could be a little special last year before flopping in the World Hurdle and I was super impressed with his chasing debut. I think he could go right to the top.

Speaking of special i think Melodic Rendeavouz could have been that last year. He ran Puffin Billy into submission and even though he was said to be lame etc afterwards he made it looks effortless. Puffin Billy then went onto finish 5th in the Supreme Hurdle although a terrible mistake 3 out cost him what would have been a very close finish(i reckon challenging top 3) if he didnt make the error. And we all know how good the form of that race is. He is up against the number 2 Juvenile hurdler of last year but if you put a line through him using River Maigue who he beat whilst receiving a whopping 7 pounds but was then easily beaten by Puffin Billy in the Supreme the bet for tomorrow has to be MR.

Again for what its worth prior to the festival last year i had MR down as my win bet for the Supreme with Champagne fever an EW alternative.

Morning ladies and gents, two nice priced EW Fancies at Doncaster today

2.25 Jummy Styles - 28/1 does all of his best stuff early doors and latter end of season.

3.35 Swynmor - 25/1 On his day a useful type and bigger things were expected before switching to the sticks, interestingly today Rebbeca Curtis pulls him from Wincanton to run here where conditions underfoot should suit.

    Good luck all
