Last night there was an attack on our site not606 causing it to crash,it's happened several times lately and Maltese Mick,the boss has done everything possible to maintain the service but these bastards keep depriving us of our fun.. ' The server was not even under pressure, see here For any of you who are technically minded you can see there is at least 9GB of RAM unused, not even being used for caching and the average load of the CPU is 2.04% (top right). Basically the vast majority of the resources of the server are doing nothing. This is at 6.20pm when no one can get on the site - so it either points to a DDOS attack or a network problem with the hosting company, the hosting company are saying it isn't them - but they would say that because they are a shower of bastards. The only reason I am able to post this right now (when the site will still be down for everyone) is that I blocked all external IPs from hitting the site, so I'm leaning towards a DDOS attack. It is very suspicious that the issues happened straight on 6.00pm as well, which is a nice round time to schedule something. it seems to me that a rival site must be behind it as why would anyone else be bothered to take their own time to stop people form getting on a football forum!
