This is heaven. Mrs Coaster is out, I’m sitting back with a bottle of Rioja watching my new DVD, Counting Crows – Live at Town Hall. It is their first album “August and Everything After” pretty much in its entirety. Go on then, top that....

Roller, I drove to work listening to it yesterday. Hadn't heard the album for a while, it blew me away (new car, new stereo). I'd never been that into anna begins before, but it got me yesterday. Takes me back to being 19 in Australia in 1997. Such a great album. Raining in Baltimore, can't beat that for a bit of self indulgence. Enjoy it buddy.

Okay... what about my Brixton evening? Chilling with some easy people on a spacious balcony drinking joncro' batty. A white rum mix with some other stuff that tastes, so I'm told, like what comes out of a crow's arse!

Different. I'm not much of a drinker either (as Woody knows!) so I'm just a tad the worse for wear. Goo' nite!

Spent the day in Brighton yesterday lapping up the Indian Summer then drove on to Eastbourne and had dinner with my good lady in the Beachy Head pub overlooking the cliffs with a glorious red sunset as our view, doesn't get much better than that...

....evening sitting on a plane, now a third of the way to Sydney, in Dubai for 2 hours. Counting Crows fine band - Rain King my favourite from this album. For years I have forced my kids to listen to my music in the car, and was delighted to find this (and several others) on my 15 year old boys iPod. Taste is in the genes!
And the fact that I am logging into Not606 is a fair indication of the depths of my R's obsession ......

Spending my night in a bar, so all seems well. Sadly, I'm working, but at least there's some nice scenery to look at!!

Just don't tell Mrs Houston I said that, or there'll be hell to pay!

Woody, they were magnificent. I played it twice. I’ve got many live recordings of them, everyone is different, they cannot play the same set twice, or songs the same way. Round Here drifted into Raining in Baltimore and then back again. Perfect Blue Buildings ended up as Sometimes it Snows in April (by Prince), an up tempo Rain King (as opposed to the mellow, acoustic version) included Bruce’s Thunder Road and A Murder of One had a life of its own. Obviously this is not as good as being there, but for anyone who likes The Counting Crows, it is thoroughly recommended.

SB, I’m always heartened to know that there are more Crows fans around, most people have not heard of them as they rarely get played on the radio. Rain King appears to be the only song you are virtually guaranteed to hear at any of their concerts. Their ever changing set list incorporates an incredibly large selection of songs, different every single night.

It sounds like you need a few nights out with the lads, Brixton, but white rum? You deserve a headache!

    Beautiful, it sounds idyllic.

Working in a bar? Doesn’t sound like a real job.

    Its nearly match time Brix

I've fired up the BBQ and I'm doing butterflied roast leg of lamb with chargrilled courgettes and a mint tabouleh salad. Last sunny day of the year so opening the last of the Beaujolais and hopefully 3 magic points

Roller, at breakfast in hotel in Sydney yesterday, what starts ringing out over the PA but 'Round Here'. Given that all the other music has been 80s pop I can't think of how this happened but it was a good start to the day.........subsequently ruined by the England loss in the rugby, which combined with the Aussie win will have me under relentless pressure from the locals until I get on the plane on Wednesday.....
