Hello, everyone

Not sure if I’ve mentioned this but am greatly looking forward to the chasing bow of SANTINI (12.45 Newbury) of the morrow. The Lieutenant when making running plans for this old boy put down his GnT and barked, ‘No messing about we’ll start him in a Grade 2’ and thus that is what happens in Royal Berkshire tomorrow afternoon. A Grade 1 winner over hurdles he should be even better over the big ‘uns and right now I couldn’t think of a more likely winner of the 2020 CGC than Santini, people. His quest for that prize starts of the morrow and I expect him to beginning his chasing career with a win, I say a win. In my opinion Santini is the most exciting horse to go over fences for many a year. And he couldn’t possibly be in better hands, or ‘magic hands’ should I say, as in the Lieutenant we trust and all that.

Whilst I’m pontificating at the ‘punting table’ I would also be confident about the Lieutenant’s LUST FOR GLORY landing the preceding prize (12.10). My regular readers were Ebullient, with a capital ‘E’, when this one won at the course, just over 3 weeks ago, and she should take this step up to Listed company in her stride. This, team, is a Grade 1 performer in the making afterall.

I see Harry has given his better half an early Xmas present in the form of a ride on American in the Hennessy (I know it’s now the ladbroke , but come on it will always be known as the Hennessy) I did like him but this unfortunately has to be a massive negative. I have changed my mind in this but the rock solid win shot is DINGO DOLLAR @ 7/1 and a small ew on GO CONQUER @ 33/1

I am off to Newcastle tomorrow, anybody have any strong fancies then get them up fellas, couple of real trappy affairs, couple of odds on shots for the forums favourite trainer to, and BVD a cert i think.

Looking at the Hennessy (Ladbroke) I think Elegant Escape 11/2 is a stonking e/w bet. Stays likes the track and beat the fav last time out when needing the run according to his trainer. Gone up 4lb but he should improve from his last run plenty.

Has rained all night here in Newbury soft , but on the heavy side So MS PARFOIS and at Newcastle SUMMERVILLE BOY.
 
Summerville boy for me today. Clattered the final 2 hurdles at Cheltenham and showed his class to still get up. A lot more to come I think. Don’t think Samcro will have the speed for this in my opinion.

Old Boy Lieutenant Henderson looking particularly dapper today.

After weeks of drought are we now seeing ground too heavy for many horses? Fecking weather <laugh>. It certainly looks testing at Newcastle so if Samcro is ever going to beat Buveur D'Air then today.
