Will the Newbury Executive and the sponsors be pleased with the entries for the 'new' race??? I'm slightly shocked that for a race with a prizepot of £250,000 just 6, I say 6 horses rated above 150 have been declared. That aspect is shocking. There have been more 150+ horses declared in each of the last 4 renewals when there was a lot less money in the prizepot. The additional loot certainly hasn't boosted the overall quality of the race.
Couldn't agree more - especially with Coneygree in there off 165, you'd have thought a horse in the mid- to upper-150s would have a splendid chance. To that end I hope the Bradstock's charge can land this off top weight, would bring the house down
Looking forward to tomorrow. No idea who I’m backing in the Trophy but I do fancy a flutter on Coneygree.
Ok can you all cool your jets re newbury and focus on the creme de la creme on show at a venue I shall be attending tomorrow - BANGOR ... it may not quite be top table but I'm hoping for a great day out peppered with winners ... that's where you lot come in !! All selections considered and never derided ... cheers lads ps I'll be at ludlow on Wednesday so get ready for a similar plea !!
Highly unoriginal I know, but Donald McCain has some nice horses entered, I fancy he might have a winner or two, specifically: 12:25 Testify (maybe play the RF with Tommy Silver) 2.40 Uppertown Prince (paddock check) Also like Newtown Lad in the 1.35 for Lucinda Russell although the yard is not exactly firing at the moment. In the bumper Not Normal could be the answer but I'm sure stick will have a view.
Ladbrokes Trophy : Singlefarmpayment each way. No bet on yet but will put on tomorrow morning. Improvement likely from this horse and have a feeling he was undercooked for his debut run at Cheltenham last time plus was a little over exhuberant in the preliminaries. I can see him running a big race tomorrow off a nice weight.
3.20 Newcastle - BISHOPS ROAD- 5/1 Strong fancy for him tomorrow 10lb lower than when 4th in this race last year which was a much hotter race with the likes of Bristol de mai, definately red and otago trail, and the 5lbs lower than when 3rd in the Peter marsh against BDM and Otago trail, of whom have gone up a whopping 22lbs and ten pounds since then and instead this guy has gone down ! This looks a weak race, Jamie Moore goes up for one ride. Can’t see how he can get beaten with him going well fresh in the past and ground in his favour
I know a lad who is a shareholder in racing and one of his horses is running tomorrow at Doncaster, in the 12.40 SHIROCCODEE. She is the rank outsider at 100/1, new owner and taking to hurdles for the first time. He's happy with the jockey booked (Kielan Woods) and is quietly confident that if she takes to them okay, she might just run a decent race. He's away to Doncaster tomorrow to watch it. This is the girl. Maybe worth £1 E/W, just in case. please log in to view this image
2 picks in the Hennessy (you can fook right off with this Ladbroke Trophy bollox). American at 7s and Bigbadjohn @ 40s. American looked a very smart prospect at Uttoxeter last season and I can’t help thinking his handler has kept him back for this decent pot. I also think Bigbadjohn is well handicapped although has shown little so far this season. The lovely Rebecca is in desperate need of a boost having lost a good number of horses over the summer. Over at Bangor I expect Court King to be competive at 11/2. Good luck all
I like Wakanda in the same race Wooley! For similar reasons to your own with Bishops Road! Think Harvey has this one laid out and got his few quid down. May the best man win! RF/C?!!!!
One has jumped off the cards: 1.20 Newbury Bouvreuil 11/2 - if this hasn't been targeted here then i will eat my hat.
I'm with Mick and Oddy re ****andi in the Fighting Fifth, and money has come for him Elsewhere, High Bridge and Theinval are looking tasty at Newbers, but can't bring myself to bet in the big one. I don't like to see a horse of the class of Coneygree lumping top weight in handicaps - even if there IS good money on offer. I'll be delighted if he should win, but don't think he will. If I had to choose, my dough would be on American. I'll be out all day and watching the recordings tonight, so good luck all
