12.20 Newbury - EARTH PLANET 4/1 (BOG) Not the best start to the Newbury card this 3m2f Amateur rider's handicap but I do feel Earth Planet offers a little bit of value at around the 4/1 mark. He runs off a mark of 120 tomorrow which is a 2lbs rise for finishing 2nd to a useful looking prospect from the Alan King stable (Hold On Julio) last time out. The selection pulled 31 lengths clear of the rest of the field that day with most being rated around the same as what he faces tomorrow. He is a quirky horse but does have plenty of ability and I am pretty sure I will know after a few fences if he is interested or not . I believe a repeat performance of his run last time out will be easily good enough to take this and I am very happy with the 4/1 on offer. 1.30 Newbury - OSCAR PAPA E.W 14/1 (BOG) (NAP) A wide open handicap chase here and in these races I prefer to look for something that may well be improving that is also a decent price and this is how Oscar Papa has been selected. It is not often I back a Nick Gifford horse these days but this one has the scope to make a real nice chaser and was a progressive hurdler last season. Following a bumper win in April 2010 he made his hurdling debut early in November finishing 2nd to a very good horse called Court In Motion (now rated high 140s) the 3rd that day was Join Together who went on to run 2nd behind Mossley next time out in a grade 2, a further 20 lengths back was a horse called The Boss (10-1 shot tomorrow). The selection was very disappointing in two starts after that effort finishing 9th of 16 when sent off 9/4 fav and 9/15 3/1 jf but went on to prove those efforts to be all wrong when chasing home Rebel Rebellion at Kempton and then Araldur at the same track. He runs tomorrow after a 266 day break but went well fresh when 2nd to court in motion as mentioned earlier and I would be hopeful if he puts in a decent round of jumping on his chasing debut that I will get a good run for my money. 2.05 Newbury - ROCK ON RUBY 13/2 (BOG) This looks a very good race and there are plenty of unexposed horses with plenty of potential in the field but I feel the value may well lie with the proven top class horse Rock On Ruby. He is entitled to come on for the run and that along with the fact he heads the weights are probably the main reasons he is a 13/2 shot tomorrow. However he is a horse I really rate and I love the way he gets down to battle at the end of a race. He was slightly disappointing at Aintree when only 3rd behind Spirit Son but he had a few hard runs last season and he may well have needed a longer break after his brilliant 2nd at the festival. He has 2 wins from 3 starts over course and distance and 4 wins from 5 at this trip so the drop back down from 2m4f should be no problem. For me he is the value in the race and whilst his stablemate Empire Levant looked a very well handicapped horse when winning over C&D on Thursday (unpenalised for that win) he runs against better rivals here and looks a little bit short at 5-2 3.10 Newbury - AITEENTHIRTYTHREE 7/1 (BOG) An interesting if not spectacular renewal of the Hennessy and I will get straight to the boring point that I am backing the long term ante post fav Aiteenthirtythree. He has now been joined at the top of the market by the impressive Paddy Power winner Great Endeavour, although he won well that day it still wasn't an easy race for him and he also has a 4lbs penalty to overcome and stamina questions to answer. There will be no such issues for the selection who has a very nice profile for this race, always held in high regard by Paul Nicholls Aiteenthirtythree has looked a natural chaser so far and I am willing to forgive his RSA race as connections were always worried it wouldn't be the ideal race for him . Aiteenthirtythree returned to the track for the first time since that RSA run when running in a three runner graduation chase at Kempton. This race was ideal for him as it will have put him spot on and he put in a good confidence boosting round of jumping, finishing 3 lengths 2nd Somersby over a trip that was far from perfect. That of course meant he escaped a penalty for tomorrows race and Paul Nicholls has made no secret of the fact that the Hennessy has been the target for some time for this dual course winner and it is reported Nicholls has a decent ante post wager on him at double figure prices and I am obviously hoping he lands these bets
Big fancy for another Gigginstown Stud runner at Gowran Park in the 2.30 tomorrow - Gates Of Rome has 2 chases under his belt this season having finished 6 lengths 3rd to De Valira and 4 lengths 2nd to Donnas Palm. Really should be up to taking this and his price may be helped by the Mullins runner Call The Police who will likely go off fav but has not been seen since disappointing in the Coral Cup. Binocular to land the Fighting Fifth if Henderson has him fit (should be obvious from the parade ring). Also a great day for watching with Peddlers Cross and Big Bucks hopefully putting in good performances. Blazing Bailey e/w in the Hennessey.
Famouswise once claimed Call The Police was the best handicapped horse in training. I haven't looked at Gowran yet will have a quick glance shortly Binoc will win - Peddlers and Big Bucks watching briefs like you say but at least the Hendo horse isn't decent against Peddlers so we will get a better idea tmz.
god knows Odddy. I haven't spoke to him in ages. He popped on fugees to booom peddlers cross the other week saying BOOOOOOOOOOM the moment famouswise has been waiting for
Shame he doesn't post any more though - good lad and really knows his stuff Just been admiring Barcelona beating AC Milan on Wednesday - see the pass of Messi for the 3rd goal? Laser guided like a fecking terminator - unbelieveable. Your lads gonna need some of that at Old Trafford tomorrow
Yeah I know . Messi is just a genius lol. Would take a point tmz but not expecting anything. Sheff Wed on a role atm who you's play tmz ?
I've got a free fiver bet from Bet365 tomorrow on Newburys 2.05 lads, if you fancy disecting that race for me?! Have to say I think the nations favourite trainer with a capital 'F' will have Binocular close to his best tomorrow and may have 'injected' (What a Freudian slip on my part) some of his old enthusiasm back into him.
Orient at home mate. Hopefully 3 points to close on the top 2 - Charlton play Huddersfield Sunday I think - hoping for a draw. We got 3 lads on loan, including one from Arsenal so hoping for good things. Found this youtube vid of the winner at Tranmere last week, filmed from the away end - top support as always and brilliant when the ball goes in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ytc-YQ1lQko
Toppy about Binoc. have a little write up on ROR on the main part of thread . Good race it is - very hard though Good stuff Odddy - should win that one mate. Will take a look at that vid now
Very keen on Phillip Hobbs mare Dream Function Toppy - Empire Levant beat nowt last week but the form of Dream Function's last win stands up to very close scrutiny - the second was 2 from 2 before the race and the 3rd , Kentford Grey Lady, won really well the other day
With you on Dream Function Oddy, trappy sort of race but solid form and she is staying on well on her finishes. The jumping left is a slight worry though!!
My selections for tomorrow; 14.40 Newcastle- Binocular (NAP)- Although he is on the drift, more value for me I think he will romp it home tomorrow, Overturn (who had a good but lucky win last week) will give him a run for his money, I reckon he will try the same tactics that worked very well on Oscar Whiskey last week! He put alot of pressure on him and he cracked at the last. He wil be hoping binocular will do the same but I think NH will have him raring to go for this! 14.35- Big Bucks This is a non bet race for me- He will win it very easily! But at 1/6 no point on punting on him- Although I may put a Binocular,Big Bucks & Peddlers Cross treble and for who ever is intrested I have just looked and quick calculations the treble is roughly 15/8 15.10 Newbury - Great Endeavour Win & Beshbar E/W- Great endavour although questions on his stamina that is the only question hanging over his head! Jumping is no problem and he proved that when winning @ Cheltenam- Beshbar- A scottish GN winner only up 4lbs since, stamina is no problem and jumping is good so will be up there or there abouts! 15.30 Newcastle- Hey Big Spender- Is dropping down in class for this race and if he respect the jumps properly and can jump fluently round he should have to much for this field but Minella Theatre runs well fresh and he would be my second choice if Hey Big Spenders jumping is not 100% 15.45 Newbury- Coup Royale- Cant be having Fistral Beach is carrying to much weight and runs better fresh, which is why my selection is Coup Royale- trainer knows how to win this race and alth has been raised 12lbs since his last win in Feb the way he won the race shows he has alot more to offer
I thought the same last week about my boys RV...hadn't won in Seville since '93 but they prevailed 2-1..ta for the link btw...manu there for the taking, well never them more vulnerable at ot...point possible. You should stick every penny you own on manu,if they win you profit,if they don't you have a warm glow inside because the toon have nailed a draw or a win.The latter scenario will make you happy but mean you'll be on the Rustler diet for the next three years....!!
Dex nice win mate last weekend - no probs about the link . I could never bet against the toon not even a penny lol - just wouldn't feel right. The Rustler Diet jesus you lot are always bullying me
