    Okay, let's not mess about.

    WINTER DERBY?!

    3.20 Lingfield: MYPLACELATER 9/1

One of Dr Koukash's most interesting recruits and an excellent bit of ammunition for Richard Fahey to work with. This is a high class filly who might still have a bit of improvement to come. Often ran on very well behind top class horses last year such as Crystal Capella and Sajwah, and the Fahey team look in good early order judged on last nights Wolverhampton showings. Hanagan on board, Koukash looking to kick off a season with a group success springboard, and looks the value selection in a race where you might expect a blanket finish.

2.25 Lingfield: GATEPOST 9/2 A good horse fresh, imposing type who travels very strongly, and that can be very useful at a tight Lingfield track. Outclassed perhaps towards the back end of last season in Group Company but 9/2 looks great value in a very realisitic assignment this weekend.

Interesting racing today. Will defs watch some replays after footy. Mon Parrain and KGL look good and Utopian is fascinating also, decent looking bumper with Henderson/Magnier horse Snake Eyes a massive danger.

Odddy 7th in the PP and run behind Hendos is good enough form for today. Good horse who was perhaps overhyped a little but has a great chance today

Good support for War Singer again today in the 3.10 Newbury - David Pipe's runner has been heavily supported on his 2 starts to date (where he ran into Grumeti and Colour Squadron) and the money is coming again this morning - 6/1 into 3/1 with Skybet.

    Morning all!

Best bet of the day for me is Hows Business in the Mares Chase at Newbury. She'll take a lot of beating and I'm heavily backing her today.

    Placepot fancies shortly <ok>

Don McCain likes to have winners at his local track so keep him on side <ok>

Don't think you'll go far wrong with Duke Of Lucca

Intersting at bigger odds in the 4.25 is Malcolm Jefferson's King Fontaine. This one rattled up a 4-timer as a novice chaser landing him a chase rating of 142. Since then he has embarked upon a disastrous string of results: P50PP7FF. I think they've tried to mould him into a Grand National horse (no doubt due to the owners wishes) but he's never looked like getting the marathon trip and he's also been running on soft or heavy which haven't really suited him. Today he has some nice spring ground, 3 miles over hurdles and goes off just 117 - that's 10lbs lower than his last hurdle race, over 3m3f at Kelso last November where he didn't get home. Jefferson hasn't had a winner since his festival double but, to be fair, he's only had 6 runners and they've all pretty much run to their merits. Stan James go top price 22/1 and I think King Fontaine could be worth an e/w dabble.

    Have a cracking day <ok>
