2 for me tomorrow that I like a lot at Newmarket. Will get write ups done tomorrow 3.50 Albaqaa 22/1 5.00 Lutine Bell 8/1
Lovely card at Market Rasen Saturday, like the look of James Reveley's book of rides (particularly Urbain De Sivola in the 4.00), like the look of Drill Sergeant in the 2.20 (shame Australia Day has been pulled) but NAP NAP NAPPITY NAP is World Heritage in the 4.35.
From the way Ryan Moore was talking on CH4 today i wouldn't be at all surprised to see Dare To Dance taken out of the Cambridgeshire tomorrow. It might pay to take a price on your fancy now because if he is they'll all shorten up. I will take a chance on Questioning. Hardly original but he looks like he might well have been saved for this. Gosden and Buick are a combination in good form and they look to hold a strong chance here. I think the race will suit with a strong pace virtually guaranteed. He is tried in the visor for the first time which i think may be significant. They used cheekpieces last time out and he improved officially by 10lbs from his mark here of 99 to his new rating of 109. The visor may well bring out more improvement and he looks like he may be the proverbial 'group horse in a handicap'.
My selections 2moro; 14.05- Daddy Long Legs 7/2- Impressive and an improving sort who was 4th at doncaster, the trip up to 1m will suit. 14.35- Best Terms- 11/8 My Nap of the day tomorrow, snap up the price quick- Have punted on her, in all her 4 starts and has never failed, she has beaten shumoos before and an another impressive filly in Fire Lily. with Hughes on top this pairing is unstoppable and she will take al the beating. - 15.10- Alanza- 3/1 NB for 2mro- This filly has improved with every single run, the trip to 1m will also suit. Also John Oxx, never sends a horse to england unless he thinks they are in tip top shape and will win. Alanzas last outing in doncaster proves she is very ticks all the boxes! 15.50- Albaaqa - 20/1 E/W- To be honest every on here keeps going on about this horse and a few have tipped him so I cant not have small bet on him lol 15.50- Questioning- 9/1- A Buick/Gosden combo in a big race you always have to fancy, the horse has been aimed towards this, kept fairly fresh and Gosdens horses come in form this time of the year! Market Rasen- 14.50- Ostland 8/1- Yard and horse is in top form at the mo! has won over C&D in june and is alot better chaser than hurdler. Haydock 15.20- Waffle 14/1 E/W- More going with my heart, then my head on this one. Last shot on him, didnt back last week but I think this horse has big win in him when 2nd at royal ascot, not on form at the moment but hoping he will find abit after a dreadful run at ayr last week. But realisticaly- I think Addictive Dream whpo ran blinder in the portland will improve and take the honour in this race, but would be nice to see waffle have a win for the 1st time in about 2/3 yrs
Cambridgeshire Handicap: MAQARAAT 20/1 First things first- you need a bit of luck in this sort of race and with so many runners it is evident again this year. However in saying that, you also need a horse that possesses ability- probably Listed/Group Race ability to overcome the traffic problems. Maqaraat to me looks like a horse that, at the prices, is absolutely worth a punt on. He showed some really smart form at the beginning of this season and appeared rather highly thought of by connections, hence his solid 2nd to Glens Diamond in a Group Three at Chester in May. He ran predominantly over 10f, so he will stay this trip without a problem and given his occasional failure to quicken in the final furlong, 9f today might prove absolutely ideal. Maqaraats debut has worked out well, with the winner- Western Aristocrat- now rated 107 and running some excellent races in defeat. However more interestingly, on reappearance this season in April, Maqaraat stayed on eyecatchingly to finish 2nd to OCEAN WAR (106 rated Derby runner and who beat the very useful Cai Shen), and finished in front of DREAM ACHIEVED (92) and also ALKIMOS (now rated 103 after an excellent 2nd to PISCO SOUR). Not forgetting Henry Cecil's MIDSUMMER SUN who has now won off 88. He then won a maiden very very easily over a mile so I expect him to see this trip out well, get a decent position and hopefully run a really big race. It returns from a break but Charlie Hills would not just throw him in the Cambridgeshire if he wasn't fully ready to go and I think he is vastly overpriced. Tough race though nonetheless.
Small stakes Lucky 15 for me today: 3:45 Ripon Fazza 4:35 M Rasen Book Em Danno 4:45 Chester Kyllachy Star 7:20 Wolves Glenridding
Just a small stakes e/w Lucky 15 for me today (plus a crack at the scoop 6 for 2 quid): 2.20 Market Rasen Drill Sergeant 8/1 Big ask off topweight BUT I really like Henry Brooke and his 5lbs will be invaluable here. He was given a nice break after finishing well down the field in the Swinton Hurdle and returned with a bang in August, winning a Class 3 handicap off top weight and a rating of 133. The handicapper has put him up 6lbs for that to 139 but as mentioned above the jockey takes off 5. Drill Sergeant loves firm going and the drop back in trip will, if anything, suit with his flat speed. 2.50 Market Rasen Mad Moose 8/1 Has been in terriffic form recently over both hurdles and fences. Faces a tough task off 144 today but I think he still has plenty of scope as a relatively lightly raced 7YO. 3.50 Newmarket Cry Fury SP Potential group horse, unexposed 3YO, yard in cracking form but hey, it's a lottery !! 4.10 Chester Blaise Chorus 12/1 It's a mystery to me why this horse is almost the outsider of the field after finishing 2nd in the Cheshire Oaks behind Wonder of Wonders.
Moning all Oddys nap wins GDC talked and conviced me in to Riggins EW (laddys 5 places) Think 2 Kings of Dave O will place at Market R Peachey Moment will be trying and will run a good race at 16s is my EW nap Stay Frosty
Only horse i've backed today is Maqaraat, looked to be progressing well in his last race which he won with ease. I hope the draw doesnt inconvience him but i dont think it will and at 20/1 i think he is worth a punt in a race where half the field could win. Stuck a football coupon on as well: Spurs, Birmingham, MK Dons, Notts County and Raith Rovers.
Hello all.... Hope everybody is doing ok! Newmarket: Lightening Pearl 2.35 She was a really impressive winner over at the Curragh last time out in that Group 3. She looks a one with a bright future, and she should be able to upset the favourite today. Saphresa 3.10 (NAP) Although she has been slightly disappointing, Saphresa looks the best filly in the race. One positive is that she is consistent, and she must be tough to beat today. Market Rasen Life Of a Luso 2.50 (ew) This horse is way overpriced after running a blinder in the Lord Mildmay at Newton Abbot. Ground is ideal, and he's proved that he can handle competitive heats. An EW steal at around 14/1. Good Luck all!
