15:00 York - Absurde Class-1 Listed Stakes over distance just of 1m6f on good-to-firm ground. Only 4-runners but a tough nut to crack as any one of the competitors could win it. However, Fastnet Rock gelding has good form in this class and is consistent. Danny Tudhope on board for the mighty Willie Mullins stable. 11/8 best price on the ATR site in most places, at time of writing.
The Saturday before Royal Ascot... Lots of small fields, lots of non runners because of the going changing (or not) – 24 at Sandown at the time of writing – and a fiendishly hard handicap at York that I only managed to narrow down to about six possibles because there are several runners making handicap debuts after only three or four starts. So leave the whole lot alone and hope that there will be some competitive pattern races at the Royal meet where the favourites are not all short prices. That might be wishful thinking...
