I know this is early guys but I'm out out all day tomorrow so wanted to get them up 130- Parlour Games Had a nice break before running at Cheltenham and ran really well in finishing 3rd. Now goes on better ground and a flat track, i feel this may take a bit of pegging back. 205- Traffic Fluide NAP I know for a fact that the Moores rate this one as highly as Sire De Grugy and to be honest it has beat everything this season bar his first run over fences when beaten by Ptit Zig. 250- Un Temps Pour Tout This race is wide open with at least 5 holding great chances but i just feel that this one has improvement in him and was quietly fancied by the pipes for the World Hurdle. They now apply the headgear and on a flat track with better ground its worth an E/W bet at 10/1. 325- Vino Griego NB This is one of my favourite horses and i have no idea why but he is 7lbs lower than when coming second in the race last year and although it has failed to complete in its last couple of races they now apply the tongue tie and visor and i expect this to go very close. 415- Balthasar King Since early December i have been all over the favourite for this race but the first 2 days of this meeting have taught me that i just can't trust Mccoy in these Championship races and after looking at the other runners the 1 that stares at you is BALTHASAR KING, he runs well fresh so the 100+ days off is perfect. he hasn't run in the cross country this year which might have cost him last year and he is going to get the good ground he loves and with Johnson on a jockey you can trust. What could go wrong? 510- Little King Robin Won 3 on the bounce early in the season until he was put in his place by a progressive horse, they then put him away and brought him back in February where he was beaten easily but i have a feeling that it was all prep for this race and the trainer has never sent one over before? I have added a win bet of Baltimor rock to this as he has had a light season and on last season s form he would have a massive chance. 540- Chocca Wocca Won 1st time out and impressively this will go off favourite and win well.
Me too, I'm busy tomorrow so............... 16:15 Aintree - Alvarado e/w (As per comments in Grand National thread, e/w ante-post at 25/1) Have a great day everyone!
My 3 against the field for tomorrow in the national. Balthazar King 11/1 (PP) Godsmejudge 28/1 (skybet) Alvarado 20/1 (skybet)
GRAND NATIONAL. Three for me. All win bets as its one of the few races where form means nothing and a 33-1 shot has as much chance of winning as a 7-1f. AL CO (25-1) ROCKY CREEK (10-1) GODSMEJUDGE (22-1) I also bet these three in double with Jordan Spieth (12-1) earlier this week so feeling quite positive at the moment.
Looking at some of the luck he had yesterday (hitting the pin from 200 yards, going into trees and bouncing back onto fairway, walking after his putt thinking it had missed only for it to drop), his performance on mastets debut last year and form at his last 3 tournaments, I can see why he's already odds on after barely 1 round completed!
Oh yes Fusion. He's an awesome player but I'm not having anyone being odds on after one round when they're almost entirely unproven in majors. If he wins it won't break my bank and fair play to him but I'd rather have every other player in the field on my side. Tomorrows racing is actually quite good apart from the farce that is the 2m chase but none of it looks like a proper betting proposition so i'll most likely watch the replays and enjoy the weather instead. Good luck with whatever you back. My three fiver each ways in the National will be on Pineau De Rea at 28/1 to do me two good deeds in two years. Cause of Causes at 20/1 who has the master of the patient ride on his back and who looks like a serious horse for these longer trips and Monbeg Dude at 50/1 because i think he's quite likely to stay the trip and navigate the course successfully.
First Lieutenant early christmas present oscar time e/w balthazar king to complete the all-ways tri-cast
The more you look at it the more his recent form starts to make sense...has it been a master stroke by the Mouse? Katie Walsh had a cheeky smile when she said she would ride the Lieutenant if she had a choice of any on TML too!
I absolute hate it when you know who is the most likely winner but still shirk out of betting him because of punitive looking odds...that 12/1 about Spieth, the best golfer in the world bar none at the minute, looks sweet now. God damn me and my "value" I've got Big cheesy Phil there pitching, a place is all I can hope for now I think bar a meltdown from the wonder kid.
I only back golf during the Majors and back the same ones every time. Harrington (80/1), Furyk (66/1), Kaymer (80/1), Singh (300/1), Weekley (not playing masters). My nearest one to the leader at moment is Vijay Singh who is currently tied 33rd so even with the very generous 6 places on offer from PP its looking extremely unlikely i'll be seeing any return!
Had a funny feeling about it few weeks ago, and my irish mate said he's been hearing so many whispers and good words about it and that's the one all the irish are getting on, smart moneys been coming for it gradually all week, was 33/1-40/1 few days ago, i done it earlier at 25s, it's now 20s in some places but generally 16s and dropping. Think Nina will do it. Reckon 2nd/3rd/4th is between Balthazar, Oscar Time, AP's, Oscar time is a bit old now so will probably be 4th / 5th. Some 80/1 thing might end up nicking 3rd/5th tho, something like the rainbow hunter. This all sounds ridiculous because it's the grand national ffs but it's the most confident i've felt betting on one since Neptune Collonges won the other year
Usually it's a decent sport to bet as the odds are generally fair and you can find some nice prices for each way purposes and if hitting one around the 50/1 mark it covers your year if you back level stakes each week. I do back the majors and pick and choose a few select tournaments then throughout, I find with the Masters though that generally the market towards the top always tends to throw the winner up more often than not. It's a horses for courses track if you like (you'd think I'd learn)! I'm a huge fan of Spieth but for interest on everyone's part I wouldn't mind him posting a +3 or that tomorrow to bring a few behind back into it. Charley Hoffman is good, but I'm not sure his game will hold so well if in contention on the back sticks on Sunday. Anyway, onto the National and good luck with the golf/racing bets.
I'm out tomorrow at the high Easter ptp, a big social event in the Essex hunt calendar. Just the three for me palour games, Cole harden and first lieutenant. Be lucky and let's hope they all come home safely.
I hear robbie mcnamara had a bad fall at wexford today, rumours on twitter he has a back injury, hope its not true
I've had a small ante post on Alvarado at 50's Chelsea so obviously wish him well. Tomorrow I will more than likely add one or two more small each ways for interest and any return will be a bonus, I might back First Lieutenant if the price holds in the mid teens and up, I will see nearer the off. The more you consider how consistent his form has been in graded races to him running like a dog this year, to now being a "fancy" for this smells a bit. With Katie winning the Irish...The headlines could be written for Nina... Good luck with it, especially if I end up on
I don't see FL winning at all. Completely off the boil over the last year and has to lug a heavy load over a trip more than a mile further than he's ever tried having never really looked like he wants further, over obstacles he's never tried on a course. I'd be much more confident the move is purely because Nina's riding. Egg on my face if I'm wrong but just don't see any reason why he'll win.
Awaiting results of a CT scan on a possible spinal injury...He will obviously miss his new ride on Lord Windermere in the National but the main thing is that he comes out of hospital in good health now.
