The Imperial Cup throws up the usual fiendishly difficult puzzle to solve and I'm throwing my lot in with Silver Streak.. Very progressive, very consistent (apart from a fall lto) I think 10-1 is a great value ew bet.

The previous race is barely any easier for punters. In a wide open event, I feel the fav Al Shahir is probably there on merit, 11-2 currently. The mare's bumper at 3.00 is another competitive affair and although I like the Honeyball charge Duhallow Gesture, that one is described as doubtful. In its possible absence I'd have to go with the runner-up to DH last time - Diamond Gait

Over at Wolves, the Lincoln Trial is yet another tricky handicap but at 22-1 I like the ew chances of bottom weight (and handily drawn) Rouge Nuage, and in the 3-15 listed race, I will take Salateen to win this for the second year. He will be no 25-1 this time though!

    Good luck lads <ok>

    2.25 Sandown- WHATSWRONGWITHYOU- 4/1

Ok he is fav and not very original I Backed him at the beginning of the week at double the price! Altho this race usually throws up some surprised, he is a good thing for tomorrow. His form looks solid beating Ok Corral who since then had bolted up and his second behind Ainchea over this track looks good too. His last race won by 9l Howver he was never really pushed and had loads left. Completey unexposed off this mark and the fact Henderson has left Call Me Lord in means his weight has stayed down. He won’t mind the soft ground and is a good banker to load up the chest for next week even more

Rouge Nuage is in a higher grade than usual, but loves the track and has his fav jockey back on, going to back him anyhow, owes me nothing.
Somchine at Hereford bids to win the same race again, his yard are in excellent form, although he hasn' sshown it yet,, surely this has been the plan 14/1

I love the Imperial Cup even though I rarely find the winner. Its the perfect appetiser to the main course that follows next week.
    I know a lot of you dont like stats but there are one or two interesting ones here;
    Age, 4 = 2wins, 5=14 wins, 6=7 wins, 7=4wins, 8=2wins,9=1win.
    Weight, under 10-7 = 19wins, 10-8 - 11st = 6 wins, 11-0 - 11-7 = 4wins, 11-7 + = 1 win
In the last ten years 7 of the winners had run in the last 30 days.

So the perfect profile is for a 5yo who is match fit carrying under 10st 7lb.
    Silver Streak
    Castafiore
    Friday Night Light
The first named is my preference as he is a very progressive horse. He unseated early last time out in the Betfair but previously ran really well at Ascot. Tom O'Brien takes the reins back from the claimer and he has no engagements next week so this was obviously the plan.

I know a lot of people will like the favourite and he has won for me the last twice but I just want to pick a few holes in the form.
He was second to Ainchea at Sandown. I love Ainchea but no horse other than this one has come from that race and won.
He beat OK Corrall (stablemate) at Newbury. We all know OK Corrall wasnt match fit and won next time but nothing else in the race has franked the form.
He beat Rockpoint at Newbury, The main opposition, Air Navigator, tripped up at the first and Rockpoit whipped round at the start. Two horses have come out of that race and won. One in an AW jumpers bumper and the other a Plumpton maiden hurdle. Rockpoint himself was royally put to the sword by Global Citizen.

He wouldnt be the first horse to make me look a mug but it doesnt read like Imperial Cup form to me.

    SILVER STREAK 14-1

Cheers mate. Hope we can meet up next week.
Interesting to see Brennan schlepping off to Hereford today. FOB must be keen to impress Denmark, he even went to Fontwell on Wednesday and the owner wasnt even there!

    Sandown 2.25pm

Friday Night Light 8/1 each way. First time visor applied today and we all know the Pipes have a great record in this race...is 3lb better at the weights with la patriote for a 1 length beating last time at ascot. Has a nice featherweight which will be ideal in this ground and I see a big run here.

Hopefully gonna swell cheltenham coffers a bit with this one.

Fidux e/w for me in the Imperial Cup - I like his form with Marias Benefit over c&d, ground is something of an unknown but he ought to be OK at this trip on soft.

My two for the Imperial Cup would be Silver Streak and Gassin Golf. However a bloke I know really well and trust to not be a bullshitter told me earlier this week to pile into Call Me Lord. He was cagey as to where he'd got is info and why he was so confident but he's not normally one to blag.

Looks a decent enough horse. Anyone any views on it? I bow to your lots superior knowledge.

Its a decent animal smokey but it may dampen your ardour when I tell you that the last horse to carry that much weight to victory in the Imperial Cup was LANZAROTE in 1973!

Dunno about the superior knowledge bit, but I pretty much echo Stick's comments as I have Call Me Lord in my tracker, but I also feel he has too much weight here. The supposition is that Hendo has him in to keep down the weight Whatswrongwithyou. And I too am on Silver Streak :)

Someone help me out with the 1.50 SAN I've come up with game on for Lucy wadham but it's hard to assess its mark although it ticks all the boxes for me. The tipsters in the rp have gone 9 different horses.
