Juan Sartori will shortly be confirmed as a Sunderland director and is planning to attend saturday's clash with Charlton Athletic, Stewart Donald has told supporters. The Uruguayan businessman has bought a 20% stake in the club and has now been granted EFL approval. Donald confirmed that the deal will be finalised in the coming days and that Sartori will be at the Stadium of Light this Saturday. Speaking to fans at the Red & White Army AGM, Donald also revealed that he hopes to have Sunderland back as a stable Premier League club within five years. Sartori's connections in the game are seen as the key to that vision and Donald expects him to play a major role as Sunderland move forward. The Red & White Army were formed last season to try and improve relations between the club and supporters. While the club's communication has increased dramatically since Donald's takeover, the group intend to ensure that they are a 'consistent, measured voice throughout the ups and downs'. Stewart Donald and managing director Tony Davison addressed a wide range of issues at the meeting, which can be seen here. Supporters can also find out more about the Red & White Army here.
Great news. I have a hunch that he's actually the main guy and is letting Donald and Methven lay the foundations. When Donald was first linked he said he'd been approached by a group.
Funny you should say that, because I said as much to my son the other day. SD is no where near rich enough to fund a premier league team, which is the holy grail that the club is aiming for. If we make it I think SD will sell up
This has been coming for a while. We heard when the App went in to the EFL(wich our club being more transparent at that point). Makes you think how long SD had been interested before we heard anything about it.
SD & CM seem to be the football men to this bloke's money man. As long as they all stay in touch with the fans in the way Ellis did not it seems a hopeful arrangement.
