Many sources reporting that he has been signed on a year long loan to Gremio (with an option for a summer loan recall).
Such a shame as he is talented but his laziness and on field apathy killed what seemed like a decent first season at Arsenal.
With Monreal, Gibbs, and Meade as our LBs, I think Santos' days are numbered.
To most Gunners this is very good news and hopefully he can eventually be sold to make way for more good players.

Thank God. I suspect this means Vermaelen will start LB against Bayern with Kos and Merte in the centre.

No idea who initiated this but could be a new ruthless side to Arsene we haven't seen to date.

Mentioned this a few days ago on the transfer rumours thread I think. I had high hopes for him as a player but he arrived here with a dodgy defensive record and so it proved.

Its good to think wenger seems to b showing a ruthless streak and saying if ur not good enough then ur out. And santos is def not good enough despite showin promise.

    BUT

Wenger has gotten rid of our 4th cb without replacing him, deciding to rely on an unproven player (Miquel) or a RB santos/jenks, and now has gotten rid of our third lb (some could say 2nd choice considering gibbs injury record) and decided to cover LB with a CB (vermaelen).
BUT that leaves us with only 2 CBs to chose from.

yeah. we could easily get screwed. if one defender is injured for bayern, we should be allright, unless its vermaelen, because sagna can play at CB as proven already. if 2 get injured, meade will play LB. and jenks will probly be RB. with sagna and mertesacker in the middle if its the current 2 who are struggling atm. then we'de be ****ed. imagine that, a back 4 of:
    Jenkinson - Sagna - Mertesacker - Meade

against an attacking line up of:
    Robben - Kroos - Ribery
    Gomez

we would let in sooooo many goals like that...

Wenger let Santos go, despite Monreal not being available for the CL, because he plans to complete the transformation of Ramsey into a wild card player. LB, RB, CM, AM, LW, RW, he can do it all. <whistle>

Interesting decision, i wonder if something behind the scenes has happened to accelerate his early departure from us. Personally i think it's a tad risky getting rid of your LB at this stage of the season, especially when Gibbs is injured, but we do have decent cover.

U guys need to calm down, we have blackburn at the weekend before Bayern so wer can rest a whole bunch of players.

I expect Kossy, Verm, Wilshire, Cazorla to be rested. Maybe even Theo & Giroud.

Though Santos was a truly awful defender, His popularity at the time masked that, but the shirt swap incident buried him. I'll be thankful to him for his goal against West Brom which helped us to get the fourth place trophy . But it was time for him to go.
