Reports from NUFC blog.. they're quoting straight from Pards, apparently..

He's going to have surgery and be out for up to four weeks

    Fan-****ing-tastic. Just our luck, really!

Will wait til it's on nufc.co.uk but that's ****ing annoying. Seriously hope we play Fergie instead of Raylor.

Aye, that's what I'm waiting for really. But might as well share! Not sure where the Pardew quotes have come from, but no doubt there'll be something more concrete appearing in the morning!

At least Ben Arfa should play against Forest. Kadar played too against Norwich, plus Ferguson, and let's bring back Tavernier from Carlisle, his loan spell is over anyway.

Maybe! Really hoping these rumours are true. Not sure he'll start to be honest but could get a sub appearance. Hopefully anyway! Looking forward to Marv and Gosling too :) Hopefully will be better than Scunny

I don't know, thought he was alright? Played a blinder against Norwich on Tuesday and not heard any injury news since then? I hope not!

We have a squad full of injury prone players, HBA, Saylor, Gosling, Ba, Best, Fergie, Kadar, Harps, Santon & Marveaux. I've probably missed a couple as well. We have always seemed to have had this problem for as long as I can remember. Didn't Shearer set up a project to investigate it when he was manger? Did that go ahead or was it cancelled after cashley stabbed him in the back?

I reckon if it's keyhole surgery on knee cartilage it's gonna be more like 6-8 weeks. Mark my words.

It will be a minimum of 12 weeks, theres no way he will be back after keyhole on an injury he has had previous problems with, Pards is talking ****e

Serious question - how come these lads pass medicals for you guys? I rate the lad from what I've seen of him but if he's had previous cartilage ops (x2) and he's only 20 year old surely there's something wrong somewhere - could that be the reason Inter didn't want him.

Most definitely, Mourinho etc have praised him and he's been hailed as the next Maldini. Since his first operation though they just haven't risked him, must be serious if he's never regained his form. Seems like just our luck, as with Ben Arfa, we sign big name players who seem too good for us. Truth is, they're crippled!

I think HBA will be fine by xmas after he's had time to settle in but Santon might be a different story. Ligament and cartilage damage seems far worse in the long run than a leg break.

It sounds like a simple arthroscopy to me.

I've had it a few times to clear debris from the knee joint and I was back up and working after 5 days in both cases.

He'll be fine. It's just detritus from the initial knee injury and most people have an arthroscopy shortly afterwards.

    This is a good point.

Recently we have signed Ba, Santon and Marveaux who have all had major injury problems. Even when we signed Gosling there was no guarantee that he would return as good as new. The club seems to be happy to gamble that these players will fully recover from their respective injuries, apart from Ba whose injury will need to be managed on an on-going basis.
