Since Christmas they have been in relegation form (except for the FA Cup...and they didn't really turn up for the semi either) Not unexpected. My banker for relegation next season
A manager that keeps Watford up and gets them to the semis of the FA cup should not be sacked for underachieving. There must be some other reason, otherwise Watford's owners are a joke.
A semi-final and finishing 13th in your first season up (and it is Watford), i would take that for QPR
This is a bit of a strange one. Did he jump or was he pushed? He's won as many games as Chelsea, got to an FA Cup semi and can still finish 11th. I'd take that every time for us.
Having just told someone off for using rhyming slang....I am not going to fall into that trap Last 6 matches Home (last win vs A Villa) D D L L D W last 6 away L L W L L L (last win vs WBA)
With an eye on the commercial side of running a football club I'm actually delighted he's gone. I see Watford as one of QPR's main rivals for attracting future support so sacking one of the most successful managers in the clubs history has to count as a positive for us. As Beth says, they are looking like early candidates for the drop next time round.
Unless there is something that we don't know it is sheer madness. Watford had a great season (for them).
They got promoted last season with quite a few different managers through the door, Flores has only been there 11 months. I reckon Di Matteo may take over. Unique business model at that club, or rather corporation with Udinese and Granada in the group as well. The announcement doesn't sound like a sacking, but a 'mutual agreement' type thing.
Heard there was disagreement between the owners and manager on the way for ward. I haven't liked all the managerial changes TF made at our Club, but they have done well despite all their changes, so perhaps Watford'owners are smarter than many think.
So my ITK in Watford says This has been on the cards for some time. Our Italian owners are very used to changing head coach frequently, as very often happens in Italy and Spain - really not such a big deal as the English media make out. Relegation form since Xmas, no plan B, bizarre team selections didn't help, coupled with unimpressive people he brought in in January. Basically Watford have no alternative to Deeney and Ighalo, literally no third striker in the squad, and a set of supposedly attacking midfielders who have about two assists and one goal between them all season. A strong back seven plus the Deeney and Ighalo goals did enough by Xmas to keep Watford up, but since then it's more or less fallen apart. Mazzarri (who last managed Inter) is next up. The media (who spend all their time focusing on managers) will be amazed but I doubt Flores will be offered another role in the Premiership. Watford will go on in our own sweet way, will be favourites for relegation again, and will probably be OK - virtually all of the Pozzos decisions on changing our head coaches have been correct. Thankyou Jem!
