apparently he's playing/travelling to the States.

I think we're playing Arsnal 17th 12.45, which doesn't give him sufficient recovery time I reckon to be anywhere near fully fit.

I don't know if there are other internationals that midweek

Yeah, I'm with Totsfan. This is a ridiculously timed friendly that's not even being played in either of team's countries.
We should ask for Sandro's release from it.

That's really frustrating. If Dembele is injured as well we have no chance.

we have to do something about this. It's utterly ridiculous.

Hopefully nearer the time we'll hear of him being pulled out.

Like Jack says, if there's 2 people we need right now it's Dembele and Sandro. they've both been superb so far this season. Our midfield will be a mess with neither of them.

    I F*CKING HATE INTERNATIONALS WITH A PASSION!!!!!

Hope Sandro feigns an injury or the club doesn't allow him to leave. We pay his wages and should have first say when it comes to friendlies, if it's qualifiers understandable but friendlies can just f*ck off, especially when they're not taking place in a proper international break.

perhaps tots, but the heart of our midfield will be ripped out if they don't play. how will we take advantage of what you say? if our current midfield 2 isn't Dembele and Sandro, we look pretty clueless.

The side that let Reading score 5 will not resemble the one we see in a few weeks.

I'm sure we can sort something out, he doesn't even start for them! I panicked because I thought this was because he was injured <grr>

Why should travelling (presumably first class) to the East coast of the US on Monday and getting the day flight back on Thursday affect his fitness for the Arsenal match on Saturday: he'll be lying down/asleep for most of the time

The return gets a little complicated because of time difference. Although the match is advertised Wednesday 14th Nov, 7.30pm ko American time, its already 00.30 Thursday morning here. With regard flight time after that, if you depart JFK at 8:30am, it is already 1:30pm at LHR. The average flight time between JFK and LHR is 7hrs. So travelling, however comfy, wipes out Thursday completely, its not the best prep for an early ko. on the Saturday, leaving you only Friday which will involve a training session. A Sunday game would help his cause in this instance, but not this time.

Hi PS, it will definitely affect his fitness. He'll have about 5 hours of jet lag to contend with and less than two days recovery time. He also has to get to the airport, and then from the UK airport he has to get home, it's a stack of travelling, that will impinge on his well being.

AS i say, of course he could play V Arsenal, but he'll be 'off peak' IMO. It was the same with Dempsey who played in the States, and then we had the Sat lunchtime with Chelsea, he simply didn't have enough recovery time and it showed. Granted Sandro won't have had to do the amount of travelling that Dempsey had to, but I think 12.45 Sat lunchtime will be too early for him to perform properly.

BTW, I think there may be other midweek internationals that Tues/Wed, but am still not sure.

I know, but a professional sportsman has ways of dealing with this to some extent. It's way short of ideal, granted because he will miss three days of training with us but he can avoid the worst effects of jet lag by only changing his sleeping patterns on the US match day (which means he will be rubbish out there but back in sync for us).

Well time will tell, AFAIC it definitely affected Dempsey, and indeed I think for a whle Dempsey has needed a rest, because of the constant travelling he's been since his States and Caribbean visit. Then it was Maribor, then it was Southampton, then it was Norwich, I think it's a cumulative thing that is is not good for him. I wanted him to miss the Maribor trip, but understand with the Ade thing, that was difficult/impossible.

It's partly a function of our limited squad resources. Hopefully Dembele will be fit for Arsenal, so we could play Dembele Bale Lennon Hudd Dempsey/Defoe Ade, for example and try to get round it that way. But of course if Dempsey is travelling to the States again for a midweek match, forget the idea of him playing, IMO

The whole thing's stupid. If there's no international break, then there shouldn't be any internationals.
If they persist with this stupidly timed crap, then they should only call up local players. Given that their league's at an incredibly important stage, they'd probably **** it off, too.

HI PNP, I think from a Spurs perspective, it gets even worse. Because, IIRC, the Brazilian players involved in key lge games are being exempted from the international game!
