QPR's Sandro given all-clear after head injury during Saints clash BRAZILIAN midfielder Sandro has been given the all-clear to return for Queens Park Rangers after suffering a knock to the head in their defeat at Southampton. By: Tony Banks Published: Wed, October 1, 2014 Sandro was substituted after eight minutes during QPR's defeat to Southampton [GETTY] The £10 million signing from Tottenham, who only made a surprise comeback at St Mary's after a knee problem, went off on Saturday following a collision after only eight minutes. He was substituted as a precaution, much to the frustration of manager Harry Redknapp, who indicated that he believed Sandro could have played on as he apparently recovered later. Medical staff have though now given the Brazilian the go ahead to return to training, and he is expected to be available for Sunday's trip to West Ham. Another Rangers midfielder though, in Adel Taarabt, could be on his way out of the club in January as his agent confirmed that the Moroccan, not currently in Redknapp's side, could be looking for a move. Taarabt, now 25, had a successful spell on loan at AC Milan last season and the Italian club wanted to sign him permanently this summer, but a deal could not be agreed. The skilful playmaker's contract runs out June 2016, and Taarabt's agent Kia Joorabchian said "Taarabt can move in January, yes. Perhaps even in Italy, but it is too early to say." Milan are still keen on the Rangers star, and could come in with another offer In January but Rangers would rather it was a permanent deal."
Henry deserves to start after his performances as a substitute. With Nico and arguably Charlie, he was our best player Saturday.
Agree with this - I think it's Henry's place to lose rather than automatically going to Sandro. I'd also say, that this validates the new rules about head injuries - he looked OK at half time but has only been cleared to play on Tuesday - that means that anything in between could have been a risk.
Possibly (although I'd have thought it was just the day after the game). Having the all clear given at whatever stage after the event still suggests it's best to err on the caution. If it could accurately be given at the time (ie during play) then that would be another thing.
So far Sandro looks to be a push over. He looks currently like a complete clown from the 8 minutes i have watched him play Headless chicken Henry does a job as is bloody good at it IMO … He will face up to anyone in this league, take them on and give his all … therefore I fully expect him to be dropped Henry and Taarabt on the starting teamsheet only then will things change IMO
Ha, i'll give Sandra more than 8 minutes! But no doubt as you say Arry will give it him, and leave out Henry again. Adel, if fit, and Henry should both start IMO too.
Osla and DT both agreeing Adel should start - well that's a surprise - when the guy has barely played at all this season. Would love to see him come on as an impact sub, and do the business. But I do agree Henry should start ahead of Sandro
Well I did say if fit mate! But as he probably isn't match fit anyway, you are probably right he'd be better used as a Sub first game back.
From what I have seen and read since being back here ... The team isn't fit anyhow. Sandro very good player but looks seriously out of tune IMO Taarabt never looked fit ever but that's not the point He does things out of the ordinary Would love to see him and nico express themselves and worry the opposition ... In a way the best form of defence is attack Taarabt holds the ball up and sticks his foot on it ... I agree that in a team of fast flowing football that can appear frustrating and a step back but he has a wealth of tricks to worry any team and he wins free kicks and pulls strings I would play him no doubt in my mind and if he's hungry then our whole team will change
