Sammy Called Up For England u21's!

    Injuries to mackem and smoggy strikers have landed Newcastle's Sammy Ameobi with a late call up for two imminent England U21 European Championship qualifiers.

    The twin withdrawals of Conor Whickham and Alex Nimely have seen coach Stuart Pearce turn to 20 year-old Sammy, whose only previous international experience came earlier this year when representing Nigeria U20s in a friendly.

    Sammy becomes part of a 25 man squad who face Iceland on Thursday in front of a sell-out crowd at Colchester. And the U21s then travel to Belgium for another qualifier on Monday in the town of Mons. Both are live on ESPN.

    With three wins from their first trio of qualifiers, England remain on course for a berth at the Championship Finals, staged in israel in 2013.

    However United's Dan Gosling hasn't received a call up from the standby list for England U21s for these games.

    Alex Nimely is on loan at Middlesbrough think its from Man City. Hope Sammy does well.

    Just think what a good chat you could have with him 5 Goals and how much he'd enjoy meeting somebody that comes from Belgium and supports the Toon and was over for the game at the weekend.

    You might even get his shirt off him and autographed to boot.

    Might do so if he's in the 18 on the day as I don't think they can name 14 subs so 7 players will be left out.

    Unless I'm wrong about that.

    It's about an hour and a half from where I live so would be a long way to go for a Sammy-less u21 side!

    Would love to have a chat with him though! I'd try to invite him over to my place haha!

    Excellent news for Sammy. Fully deserved as he has shown real potential and a direct style which causes problems. Again they are preferring technical players like Sammy with raw talent.

    Glad Capello and Pearce have spotted his potential and got him involved. Current England set ups are moving in the right direction. Got loads of time for Capello and hopefully the FA will stick to their guns with him and with Pearce following him. Listening to the general public and press to appoint Harry is a massive step backwards.
