Bristol City striker Sam Baldock failed to add to his tally in todayâs 1-1 draw at Crawley, but still managed to claim the League One Golden Boot. Baldock finished with 24 League goals for the season, just one ahead of closest rival Britt Assombalonga of Peterborough. He afterwards paid tribute to his team-mates, insisting: âI could not have done it without them.â He added: âEvery striker wants to score goals and this has been a target for me for some time. Iâm really pleased to have finished on top of the pile. âI want it to be put on the record that Iâm grateful to every one of my team-mates, all of whom have worked hard to provide me with the chances.â Baldock knew he would be in line to receive the League One Golden Boot when he was informed his great rival, Assombalonga, had been left out of the Peterborough side to play Port Vale at London Road. He revealed: âScott Murray (City kit man) got on the Wifi before the game, found out the information and told me ahead of kick-off. âItâs not the way I wanted to do it â I would have preferred to sign off with a couple of goals. But I got over the line at the end and that is all that counts.â Read more: http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Bristo...tory-21053223-detail/story.html#ixzz30g5SiYgT
Signing Baldock on a years extension and Elliott on for a year should be number priority this summer.
Baldock is probably still on "Championship money" - so extending the current deal is not straightforward. Great achievement to win the golden boot (shame it's got a bit lost with what's happened to the Gas)
