"If all that I was interested in was money, the easiest decision would have been to stay at Arsenal, picking up my money every week and walking into the team. "There are many people doing this right now at Arsenal. "I made the hard choice to come and fight for my place at a big club, where they never settle for second best, and I have proved it correct. "I now hope the Arsenal fans can get on with their lives and forget me, they should celebrate their third-place achievement and I will focus on winning titles." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...g-Manchester-Citys-Premier-League-title.html?
He's such a money grabbing, incosistant ****. Unlike with Fabregas (who i'm still sad about leaving) Im not bothered about Nasri. I have to admit though on some level he is right. We are happy with 'second best'. The Club should not be pleased about a third place finish. What happened to the days when Wenger was obsessed with winning the title?
He's just lashing back at all the Gooner's giving him a bad time. Although he is coming across as being an @rsehole, he is correct on a few points. I know you dislike him Piskie, but is he wrong? We have become second best and the fact that we've scraped into 3rd place by the grace of Spurs and Chelsea playing so poorly, this shouldn't be celebrated on a winning level. It should be celebrated if you're happy with winning nothing and getting second best....
Whatever he thinks, I just think it shows a massive disrespect to Arsenal, our players and our fans. You would have thought he'd show a bit more respect to his former team mates, but instead accuses them of just being there to pick up their money and walk into the team. Bloke is a **** - simple.
But why are Arsenal fans still obsessing with him and insulting him at every corner? This is one thing i don't like with football at the moment. The abuse players get is incredable, but when they decide to give it back they get majorly slated. Although i agree that he's been a cnut, we should stop harassing the man and move on. Even Cole still gets booed after leaving so long ago....
I wouldn't say that anyone at Arsenal is 'happy' at getting second best, but this season we had to be realistic about our prospects given our squad and resources versus the endless pit that is City. If Nasri wasn't content for settling for second best, then maybe he should have put a bit more effort in when he was playing for us and tried to help a real club win a trophy. Instead he bottled it and sold out to the mercs where they buy their success. For him to come out with these comments now, simply illustrates that he knows he shafted us for the money, otherwise he would have said **** all. He's a **** of the highest order.
First, you'll notice Clichy and Toure never get abuse from Arsenal fans...well, maybe Clichy a tiny bit, but that's pretty much dissipated now. Nasri continually jumps up with these foolish statements. **** off if you think I'm going to sit here an take such a stupid comment on the chin. The ****s had not won anything since Elvis and all four Beatles were breathing and now they "never" settle for second best? **** right off!
I think he should shut it and get on with it and so should the fans. Unfortunately i can see things escalate with his current stupid comments. As for Nasri bottling it, i wouldn't quite say that. At the end of the day, footballers do not show a lot of loyalty and will move on to better pastures. Even the Pod has moved on from his hometown club that he is ideolised in and gone to us, for an increase of money and playing level. Whether we like it or not, Arsenal isn't quite the same club that it was a while ago. We no longer have the capabilities to challenge for the title or the Champs league. He looked at this and decided to move onto better pastures, like so many other players have with other clubs. I know this may hurt being an Arsenal fan, but this is the way things are, until of course we become a more formidable force once again.
The main reason why we don't abuse Clichy and Toure is because the club or the fans didn't want them anymore. Clichy was getting abused by the fans at one point and Toure was just moved on, with Gallas being favoured. In fact i feel for Toure as Gallas should have been kicked out and him retained. Nasri gets a lot of stick because we didn't want him to leave as he was one of the few class players we had left over. If he was $hite then you or the rest of us wouldn't give 2 $hits. Of course you are entitled to get peeved off at his comments, and rightly so after the crap he wrote. But both parties should just let it lie and concentrate on getting arsenal back to the top.
Interesting points. Do Arsenal players have to fight for their place? How many games were there this season where you couldn't name at least 9 of the starting 11? And that was only due to injuries. Ordinarily you can name the whole 11, because it doesn't change, because there isn't enough competition for places. Arsenal did settle for 3rd. They didn't have much choice after the first few weeks of the season, but they were never challenging this year. That has to change. At the moment, they're perennial "also-rans" while they should be at the top, shoving Nasri's words down his throat!!
Petulant child with no loyalty. Gabby Logan interviewed him for Football Focus in I think... May. I remember watching and thinking how classy he was. He spoke about how influential Arsene was, how much he'd nurtured and matured him as a player and how Arsenal were the right club. He also spoke about how his family have settled down in London. A year later and look at him!
The fact that Nasri would walk into our first 11 and not be dropped, yet struggling to get into the Man City's first 11, tells you how much we've regressed. At one point, we were playing an 18 year old Championship player with no Prem experience as our main attacking outlet on the left, and another division one player as our main right back! Is it no wonder why we struggled so much this season?
There are some footballers out there that do seem to show no loyalty and are probably just motivated by money. Nasri is one of them. There are other players that are loyal to a club and want to fight to win trophies with THAT club. Its getting harder and harder to find the latter.
Thats the sad fact of modern day football. The problem is, we have old schoolers like Piskie and co that get peeved off when it happens, but this is the state of football now. We have to accept and move on otherwise it'll just annoy the F off us. Nasri was bad but not as bad as that clown Tevez and Hazard. We talk about disrespect, Hazard has shown utter contempt by his constant bleatings about moving. Don't get me started with Blanka....
