Ummm...they didn't score against PL opponents. The whole idea of loans are that the players play and gain more experience. This seems to be working well for Mason and Gestede so hopefully they will do the job for us next season. Loaning them out was the correct thing to do.
Sorry guys, no return for Rudy. "On 1 January 2014, Gestede signed for Blackburn permanently, on a three and a half year deal, along with Tom Cairney, who was also on loan at Blackburn at the same time as him, from Hull City." I think we got about £300k for him. Joe, however, returns to us after last night's game. Don't know if he is named in our 25 man squad. If he is then I would include him on bench at least for Saturday, if not starting. He has played regularly for Bolton and scored 7 in 15 appearances.
Don't think he can recall Rudy, see BfB post. Good question for Mason though as a new manager I would have recalled every player to judge myself. BfB... not sure about Joe being in the 25 but there is an age under which players are not counted.
Would definitely give Joe a run out on Saturday! 100%.. It cant get any worse than it is so lets take a chance! We know the boy can score goals.. AND he's young!
Agree - easy to say that they'd have done well in the PL but looking at the inability of Campbell to score more often than not when he found it easy in the Championship it's a fair bet the ones shipped out would have struggled. Gestade though has left the club hasn't he?
I think the main problem with FC is he is too desperate to score, so no end product a lot of the time, you need a certain calmness amongst the mayhem, that is all he lacks really, works his socks off for nothing most of the time. Will be the same for the likes of Mason, will try too hard and lose composure on the final ball.
In fairness to Mason I believe he's had one start against a PL side in his career and scored. Calmly taking the one chance that came his way in the Cup final.
Campbell and Mason are two opposites. They're poles apart in their approach to the game. Campbell will put himself about all game making a nuisance of himself up front, but more often than not lately, comitting pointless fouls on defenders and handing back the initiative to the opposition. Mason is hardly physical at all. He's a lurker with decent close control and a coolness in front of goal that Campbell lacks. I'd back him any day over Fraizer for a one on one with a keeper. Unfortinately, neither are the ultimate answer up front. Having said that, I'd take either at the moment over what I've seen of Jones.
Yes he did Steve, and a good goal it was. If he could produce that in league games he could be the answer, a calmness in front of goal would have seen us with a few more goals this season I believe.
With Noone out Joe could be an option wide on the right. Not a winger I know but a reasonable turn of pace and could give good support to the main striker. Something for OGS to consider maybe?
Some good Cardiff fans have been wishing our JRod well, can I reciprocate and wish Craig Noone a speedy recovery, a player that I rated highly and wished we could have acquired some time ago!
couldnt care less tbh, he may have made the plane for you but would have been a peripheral figure at best. good luck.....
I take it Swampy wasn't one of them?.......... Bit ungracious to a visitor there Swampy - hemorrhoids playing up?
I was genuinely upset for Rodriquez when I heard he was badly injured. He's a very promising young forward, much more of a goal threat than Welbeck and his form has just got better and better heading into a World Cup. There'll be plenty more WC's for him but he must be absolutely gutted.
