does his hunger...roughness..passion and sense of being a 'man' about things overpower his lack of technique...lack of inteligence compared to the likes of vermaelen or a campbell?

personally i think he's just what we need..not too much emphasis on his techniques...but our fear factor would be restore.. no way a pussy-type defender

    good buy or not?

do you even think wenger will sign him bearing in mind wenger likes his elegant technically gifted..lightweight..injury prone type players?

As I posted on an earlier thread, I think he could be what we need as an alternative CB option, to play against physical teams like Stoke and Blackburn where his aerial ability and aggression will be very welcome.

If he is the only signing of the summer, and nobody leaves, I think we could play this team against the physical sides:

    ------------------------Szczesny----------------------------
    ----Sagna---------Djourou------Samba-------------Clichy----
    -------------------------Song-------------------------------
    ------------------Diaby--------Fabregas---------------------
    ------------------------Van Persie---------------------------
    --------------Bendtner------------Chamakh------------------

It would give us plenty of height with Bendy, Chamakh, van Persie, Diaby, Song, Djourou and Samba all at least 6' 2"

We still have plenty of quality, and it would give rests to Vermaelen, Wilshere, Nasri and Walcott who will all need resting at some times next year.

I say buy him. We need him in the club if for nothing else but to scare the ****e out of the other players and make them all grow a pair or maybe even 2...

tactics are a problem. coaching of the defense is also a problem, as is depth in the squad.

you can address all of these simply and efficiently without great outlay.

samba i feel would be a start. he's big, physical, and has that route one mentality. would you praise vidic for his footballing prowess? i think not, but he's rated because he gets the job done. that's what samba would bring. it'll toughen up van Persie (or destroy him totally), and chamakh if they have to start playing against him in training every day too.

i like your team cesc, but there is no width.

i also agree that clichy should go. i'd rather gibbs in that kind of formation.

none of us really know how fast samba is, or how intelligent. he is however 27, physically a beast and should be at the peak of his game.
